Okay, I chose to use Atlas Van Lines for my upcoming move.

Anyone ever use them before? Any good?

Atlas moved me out West from Indiana. Wonderful people. They did bend the hell out of a lamp shade, but that was the only damage I had. Everything important made it in great shape.

And my final bill actually came in less than the estimate :D

Bill Muncey used to use them all the time... they were the best for years -- right up until his accident...

Gosh, I can use this info, too.

I'll have to move at Uncle Sugar's request in about a year.

Did you get quotes from several companies? They'll send people to your house, estimate the weight and quote you a price. Doesn't cost a thing.

for my last move, I simply did all that **** on the internet. From there, moving companies contacted me, but I found almost all their estimates were about the same.

Four estimates - I went with the second cheapest, only because the cheapest took a week to get back to me.

Did a cross-country move once, but used a different compnay. That's why I was asking about Atlas in particular.

As for getting my new employer to pay: "We don't pay for non-management employees' moves. Union employees are on their own."
