Driving to work this morning, I was listening to John Boy and Billy.
Sidebar: I'm about through with them too since all they do is push products, acts, movies etc... They sold out years ago and pretty much suck.Anyway, they are talking to Larry the Cable Guy - who is doing his schtick and of course plugging an upcoming appearance in North Carolina.
Ever since I saw a clip of the guy, before he was Larry the Cable guy, I hate him. He is a fraud. A phony.
I find His thick southern accent and hillbilly jokes insulting - mostly because the guy is a fake. I can understand exaggerating yourself, but damn.
He's about as southern as Ohio and his hick as Palm Beach, Fla. I find it to be incredibly condescending that portraying an ass-backwards hillbilly has made him a wildly popular and a very rich man.
>:(
End of rant.

Ralph Barbieri and Tom Tolbert just had a raisin ham on their show.
Apparently the raisin ham will be the new point guard for Golden State.

Not true.

We KNOW He Can't Stay With This Guy:

He was like a flash in the pan, he was very popular then people just got bored of the same jokes. I saw Ron White in Boston several years ago who is much better than Larry the Cable Guy; but Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy really all talk about the same stuff.

Oh, I dunno. I really enjoy Ron White. Caught a new special of his over the weekend, and it had me rollin' on the floor. One bit in particular, he was talking about people asking why he isn't involved in the Blue Collar TV show. He said it's two words: "Work ethic. My grandad used have a saying about me. 'That boy's got a lot of quit in him.'"

Then, he went on to say that even the things he didn't quit, he got kicked out of -- like his high school debate team.

"We had a debate, and my opponent talked and talked, then it was my turn. I responded with 'Well, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you.' He was speechless. I thought that was the point."

If by "new" you mean a couple years old, then yes. :D

The raisin ham vs. Baron Davis matchup will be epic.

I would so expose him for the hot dog he is.

Are you ripping Larry the Cable Guy for being a one-joke pony (when both of your jokes weren't funny the first time around)?

I'm not much of a fan, either, but those who live in glass houses...

huh? none of the three posts you quoted ripped on LTCG. lame threadjacks? yep. rips? uh, no.

Larry the Cable Guy blows something fierce. Everything he says just seems so put on, so over the top, that it's not close to believable.

Out of all of the Blue Collar boys, LTCG is my least favorite. I've been a Bill Engvall fan since Here's Your Sign back in 95 or so. Engvall has been one of my family's favorite comedians since, mostly because the stuff he jokes about and his family life is very very similar to mine.

Jeff Foxworthy reminds me so much of my uncle it's not even funny. His stuff is also funny but he's the one with the real staying power. He's been out on the comedy circuits for how long? There wouldn't BE a Blue Collar Comedy Tour without him.

And Ron White...oh lord. He's funny. I remember watching the original BCCT and having to stop the DVD several times during his routine because me and my friend were laughing so hard. I loved the part where he was talking about the Debeers diamond people and he said, "Why don't they just say it? Diamonds....that'll shut her up! For a minute...."

EDIT for GBNF: He was hysterical in Cars. Tractor tipping. I mean, I had tears rolling down my face at that scene. Then again, everyone was great in Cars, especially Carlin.

'They threw me ... into public.'

Know it's not Larry, but that line cracks me up every single time.

You were listening to something called John Boy and Billy?

I think I've found the problem.

I love Larry the Cable Guy. Fart and underwear jokes are my thing!
