For some reason, Buck, there is a smalll contingent of very sick Mets fans who love Matt Franco. I believe it had to do with one hit off Mariano Rivera that beat the Yankees in the 9th inning in like 1999.

As a reformed fanboi, let me tell you that moment was ****ing outrageous.

I mean, c'mon SP, you of all people should understand why that moment has forever endeared Franco to Mets fans. Matt Franco? With a game-winning pinch-hit two-run single off Mariano Rivera? And frogs didn't fall from the sky immediately afterward?

It'd be like me getting a date with Jessica Alba and rounding the bases. No, it does not mean I can have sex with Jessica Alba all the time, or even some of the time, or even more than once. But for one day, I did have sex with her. And you look at me and go "You know what he's a looser, but there was that time he hooked up with Jessica Alba, and for that I must admire him."

It's like that with Mets fans and Matt Franco. Or so I've heard.

I assume this was a regular-season game? I can't remember it.

Yes it was.

As a sick Mets fanboi looser, I must say that while Franco's pinch hit single was memorable, it does not compare to Todd Pratt's 1999 NLDS clinching homer or the Piazza bomb that capped off the 8th inning comeback against the Braves or Piazza's homer in the first game in NYC following 9/11.

That almost looks like the Jason Giambi Christmas ornament I bought one year. I have hung it up with shame the last three Christmas' as I will again this year.

The only time I like my steroid users is when they are hitting big home runs off of Pedro in Game 7 of the ALCS.

Pretty ****ty starting lineup if he's in it.

Rico could field his position better than most, but if he got a Starting Lineup, any one of us probably could have, too.

Was 1999 or 2000 the Subway Series? I'm too lazy to look it up, that is why I asked if it was a regular season game.

John Franco's Starting Lineup spent more than five years hanging from my ceiling -- noose and all. ****.

2000. The Mets won, 4-1. It was a good time.

... and I have no doubt believing Mike is one of them.

I'll never forget the absolute gem Rey Ordonez turned in a completing a double play in the third inning against the Yankees in 1997. That was a great game in Mets history, in my opinion.

Ordonez was good in his day, and I'm sure the double play was fantastic, too.

I was at Shea for the brutally brisk and rainy Opening Day in 1996 when Ordonez, in his first big league game, threw out at home someone for the Cards (Ray Lankford?) from his knees in short left field. A true holy **** moment. Too bad the guy made the routine look difficult. Or that he was a miserable prick.

You think a Rico Brogna Starting Lineup figure is ****ty?

I can top it. I am the embarrassed owner of a Rey Ordonez Starting Lineup. **** you all and try to top that ****.

That's what I thought. Thanks. How did the Yankees win that one game? ;D

In between cheating on his taxes, Derek Jeter beat the Mets 1-on-9.

OK as long as we don't have to see your raised Gary Gaetti *pushing down the vomit* cockring.

I remember that play like it happened yesterday. Lankford got the hit and Clayton was thrown out at the plate.

I think Ordonez finished the season with 27 errors. He was tough to watch most of the time, but he cleaned up his act to grab to Gold Gloves.

Hey, BYH, it's better than the actual plaster cast you have of Kevin's Elster.
