It actually turned out the Republicans were correct that Clinton needed to go, but they (at that point we) were so buried in misogyny that the right reason never really got called out. I wondered how I would react given that I was a hardcore Republican in the 90s and I think I was open to rethinking some things. Clinton never went on tv/radio talk shows multiple times to discuss with great excitement his urges to get sexy with his own daughter (or to brag about his success, on several occasions in barging into dressing rooms with young teen girls naked or close to it, "I kinda get away with things like that.")

Fat**** has been a pervert for 60 years and everybody has known it. Clinton ... eh. He's been a sleazy horndog for decades. Has he acted callously and probably coercively to many women? Probably, yeah.

Has he treated Hilary badly in their marriage? Probably, yeah. I thought she should have ditched him 30 years ago in the middle of all the Monica stuff, but she didn't. They've been married what, 45 years, (no, 51!) and whatever problems they've had, they've figured out some way to live with it.

Fat**** is a full-throttle pervert. He left "sleazy horndog" far behind long long ago. On the marital infidelity scale of 0-100, if Bill Clinton is an 87.5, Fat**** is at 6.02 x 10*23.

Despite some of the self-loathing stuff that bled into his policies, this guy would have been mourned appropriately, with that sentiment crossing the aisle. The man he became deserves every bit of scorn and shrugging that his death spurred.

It's a tragedy in the Shakespearean sense.

If more about him comes to light in the future months and years, his story would make one hell of a biopic, with the goal of answering one question: Why did he sell himself out? Was it blackmail? Or simply a chance to be power-adjacent?

I'm guessing the latter and that is how his behavior pattern has shaken out over his career. The former was unblackmailable because it was an open secret he was "that way."

If Lindsey Graham had stuck to being the congenial eccentric, he might have eventually gotten primaried but he’d still have been around the Beltway forever, living off lobbying and cable news appearances and still able to jawbone Republicans into bombing every Muslim they could find. And he’d have died with some damn dignity.
