OK, maybe it's not Firefox. I'm on Safari now, which came with my brand new (less than a month old) Macbook. And it's locked up three times on SportsJournalists.com in the past five minutes. All when I'm in my PMs.

The hell?

You might be right...I'm only locking up on SportsJournalists.com as well.

It must be the SMF release candidate that doesn't get along with the browsers.

IJAG, it's clearly something to do with something else on your computer, not the browsers.

Have you run Apple software update lately? There have been a couple updates in the past month, that might solve your problem.

If that doesn't work I'd re-download JAVA, Flash (no, not THAT Flash, I'm talking software) and Shockwave just in case. If you're not sure where to find them just google them.

I run my software update every time I log on. And I've never downloaded any of those things unless they came with the computer.

I've just discovered the best thing about Firefox 2.0 -- if the program stops unexpectedly, it will give you the opportunity to resume your session the next time you open it. So lets say you have 15 tabs open -- if Firefox shuts down and you have to restart the program, all 15 tabs will open exactly where they were before.

If you really want to take advantage of this, you can leave Firefox open when you shut down your computer. Then the next time you start your computer, even if it's the next day or the next week, you will have the chance to resume your previous session (with all the tabs) when you open Firefox. That might not be what it was intended for, but it works.

As a side note, the folks at Lifehacker (a cool site) rely on some of the same lingo we do

Lifehacker is, of course, from the same company that brings us Deadspin ;)
