One of my brothers went to Yale. He is genuinely psyched up about this game, since he didn't respond "**** off" to my email asking him what it was like to attend a football factory.

Davis played at Wisconsin in 2022 before he transferred to Montana State. Marshall Howe also played at Wisconsin in 2022 before he transferred to Yale.

Thus, they are friends.

Davis went over to show love to Howe after the game ended. Brent Vigen pulled him away and guided him toward the 50-yard-line to join his teammates.

That did not go over well with his senior running back. Davis yelled at the fifth-year head coach, swiped his hand away, and walked in the other direction. Vigen and teammate Takhari Carr followed him, which only caused the situation to escalate further. Davis aired his grievances before he eventually fell in line.

Looks like the player was having some friendly interactions with opposing players and the coach escalated it by grabbing the player and telling him to leave because the players were gathering in a circle on the field, either for the coach or for praying.

Player seems to have overreacted, but the coach could have just tapped him on the shoulder and be like, “hey, we’re waiting for you. Make it quick” and leave him for a minute.

That Illinois State stat line is crazy: 5 INTs, 1 pick-six, a punt return for a touchdown, and they won.

I was surprised Montana won yesterday. Their offense came together nicely this season, but the defense has been a bit suspect.

For all of the somewhat questionable FCS teams that have moved up to FBS, Villanova strikes me as a program that could move up and perhaps make something of it.

Depending on how much money they want to throw at it of course. I know in today’s world, the finances work against private schools unless they’re really committed.

For what I've read over the years they have kicked the tires on going up, even talked with the Philadelphia Union about using their soccer stadium as home to satisfy seat requirements. Now that Delaware took the plunge gotta think the tires get kicked again.

Villanova is headed in the opposite direction, to the Patriot League. The PL will be significantly stronger next year with Villanova and William & Mary joining former CAA stalwart Richmond there.

There was some talk when the Big East was trying to survive as a football conference of Villanova moving up. They certainly would have to play somewhere other than their tiny campus stadium. Not sure the admin there really wants to move up.

Outside of Sac State and its desire to go FBS, the only other current FCS I see entertaining a move is Tarleton.

Sac State's going to have a hell of a time filling a schedule next year as an FCS independent. They still have to find eight games. I sense a home and home with Merrimack coming.
