Could somebody tell me why Tennessee rushed for 177 yards on 34 carries, yet threw the ball 42 times? Is Dave Clawson that desperate to make himself look smart in his first game as a big-time OC?

With a 14-7 lead, even after Foster fumbled, all Tennessee has to do is run the ball the rest of the game and there's no way UCLA can win. Hardesty was a man .... when he got the ball, that is.

And if Tennessee allows a third-string, fresh-out-of-JUCO quarterback to throw four interceptions, only to come back and beat them, what are the Vols gonna do against Tebow, Stafford, and even John Parker Wilson?

I was asking that question for a while, but basically gave up. The lack of commitment to the running game was amazing...

Hilarious tidbit from Brett McMurphy of the Tampa Tribune to begin the week of the USF-UCF game on Saturday.

NO, WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? UCF scheduled a media conference call with Coach George O’Leary Monday. However, the 800-number provided by a UCF official mistakenly had one digit wrong. Instead of getting O’Leary’s conference call, media members instead got a phone sex line.

“Hi sexy, you’ve reached the one-on-one fantasy line. Where the girls are … ” the recording said. A woman that answered said this was not the number for O’Leary’s conference call, but told me she would pretend to be George O’Leary if I really wanted. I told her no thanks.

UCF rescheduled the call for Wednesday.

Never underestimate the power of Ryan Sonner.

Moddy is the one with the connections. I guess he gave Sonner's opinion a second thought and decided to make the call. I didn't enter into that debate simply because I know almost nothing about the team and even less about the two quarterbacks.

As a rule, though, I always operate under the assumption that life's too short to wait another year for anything. I've watched a lot of great teams rise and fall in short order, and I've watched teams go from cellar-dwellers to champs almost overnight.

If you have a guy who is ready to play, put him out there. The obvious exceptions are those situations when coaches force guys to play through injuries and when MLB managers ask 20-year-old kids to throw 125 pitches every five days.
