Classic comic book ads

Maybe it was three bags' passing reference to Hai Karate, but it got me nostalgic this morning. Many here probably never saw these, but I wanted to see if anyone remembers those classic comic book ads, the ones trumpeting the miracles of Charles Atlas' fitness' regime, x-ray glasses, the hovercraft and delivering Grit. Ever fall for any of it? I'll admit it, I bought the x-ray specs.

I have a whole collection of the Hostess ads from various Marvel and DC comics. The Dingo Boots ads featuring O.J. Simpson are quite awesome as well. And I haven't seen any mention of Grit or Olympic Greeting Cards.

Sadly, my hopes of undressing the fine uniformed young ladies at the Catholic school with my X-ray eyes were met with profound pre-adolescent disappointment. My plans to grow mutant, hovercraft-flying sea monkeys to achieve total world domination didn't pan out either. Drats.
