I haven't played chess since about 2001. It became all about the money and groupies.

A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were
standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse.
"But why?" they asked, as they moved off.
"Because", he said, "I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

That's all I got!

Awful.

Truly horrible.

You go to the box, two minutes, and you feel shame.

Nah ... that's five minutes. Really shabby. :)

Just in case anyone cares, since I didn't post this before: I go by weinberg6 on the yahoo chess boards. I usually play in one of the social or beginners rooms. I'm rated in the 1300s. Usually play fairly late at night. Just invite me or post a time and we can play sometime. Some of the rooms there are usually empty, so we should be able to meet pretty easily.

I click on the thread to see what it's about and this is what pops up... wow

(I smiled, is that wrong?)

Would there be any interest in an SportsJournalists.com chess tournament? I figure we would need 8 people to make it worthwhile.

Love cribbage. It is making a comeback on the college scene. I got both my kids a board - at their request - for Christmas.
I still kick both their asses because I am an old man.

You can have chess. When I relax, I don't like to think hard enough to make my head hurt.

I'll play, although I'm not sure how competitive a tournament will be. I'm afraid there will be somebody with a 1700 rating or something else high that will destory the rest of the field.

But still, I guess everyone else can play for second. I'm in.

I'll play too, usually would play later at night, although haven't played chess in a long time.

I'd LOVE to get a regular euchre game going...or a tournament...obviously, we'd need pairs...

If anyone wants to be my partner, I don't play often, but I can't imagine you can lose the skill...I used to play EVERY DAY in high school and most days in college

I'll play you, dude. It's been a long, long time, but I'm sure it'll be OK. My name is this one.
