Ninety percent (9-of-10) in the second half! And 78.6 percent overall. Lack of a shot clock (last game without it) and 3-point shot sure helped slow the pace. That really was the perfect game.

I'm so hungry for NFL news I'm in the "Checking out the new coaching staffs" phase of the off-season and enjoying the "Yeah, WHATEVER happened to that guy" reactions when I look at some of them. I'd love for all those folks who do the "grade the hire" bits once the coaching carousel stops spinning circle back and grade the coaching staffs. Pete Carroll has two sons on his staff, Joe Philbin and Gruden's kid is still on the strength and conditioning staff. And there is a senior vice president, coaching operations - not sure what that's about.

Those couples aren't there because advertisers are progressive in any way. They're there because those are important consumer demographics that spend money on goods and services.

If you have a commercial with a fit, conventionally good looking Black man paired with a hot, thin blonde white woman, that’s a guaranteed way for about 40 percent of the U.S. population to be turned off to the product. The white racists and the Black women will not be lining up to buy tue product.

I see more ads with a plus-size Black woman paired up with some nerdy white guy with a dadbod, glasses and a goatee. Probably the least likely of the combos in real life but one that doesn’t offend anyone, just makes people say, “nah, those two would never ne a real couple.”

I have noticed that when commercials have attractive people of both races and boh sexes, they are usually in groups, as is customary in beer ads, leaving any sexual pairings to the imagination of viewers, and offering the advertiser complete deniability there's any secxual implication at all.

I work in the corporate offices for a major national retailer, and whenever we have non-white male models in any of our major catalogs, we brace for the assholes to come out. Typically get a couple dozen nasty emails and voicemails about how "That isn't your target audience! If that's who you want to be your customers, fine, my family is out! Didn't you learn from Bud Light?!?!?! Get woke, go broke, assholes!"

All because we had the nerve to put a black man (or God forbid, a black or Asian female) in a sweater that we sell.

I think (or at least pray) that that is the horrible, vocal minority (no pun) of society, but seeing those reactions really makes me weep for where we are right now.

I love how three QBs have surpassed a guy that has yet to have consecutive seasons as a starter where he didn't play in a Super Bowl. That's funny.

The thing with the Chiefs is going to be how are they going to construct the second act. Five SB appearances in six years. Don't think it's been done before. Seven straight AFC championship games. Three SBs in the bank over that run. There's a good chance they might not get to an 8th straight AFC championship game.

But now the future is going to come fast. Kelce is on his last legs. Andy Reid might have 2-3 years left in him. On offense they have to rebuild the skill around Mahomes. Worthy is a good start at receiver and they need a real No. 1 running back to give them more balance and open up the field for Mahomes again and more speed on the outside. They have become a team that is more methodical and less explosive. They have to invest in tackle depth on the offensive line and move Thuney back to guard. With Thuney and Smith they have All-Pro caliber interior line guys.

Defensively I still think you can re-tool the defensive line against Chris Jones. He's only 30, he was a 1st-team All Pro again this year. And they can make some moves in the secondary around McDuffie, who is still an excellent player. Overall though, they have to get a lot more athletic and distrupttive up front and in the back seven. a

Injuries played a role in the offense's troubles. They lost Rice early on and Brown was never healthy. Neither was Pacheco, who did play like a No. 1 back much of the 2023 season.

Tackle is a problem. They need to get Thuney back to playing guard and they need to protect Mahomes. They certainly didn't do that in the Super Bow.

I work in marketing for a consultant that works with a state agency. You should see the vitriol from when we put someone in ads that’s not white.

A quick scan of box scores showed an odd stat: This was only the second Super Bowl in which one team's kicker did not score a point. The Chiefs went for two after all three touchdowns, so Harrison Butker never even tried a field goal or PAT.
First was Super Bowl 48, when the Broncos went for a two-point conversion after their only touchdown against the Seahawks.

The ‘91 Blues still ache in my heart.

The ‘97 Packers and ‘01 Rams are still the ones that got away. In the alternate universe, Holmgren is in the HOF, Favre is in the upper pantheon and the Rams are probably still in STL — Missouri would have ponied up (again) far sooner.

Good catch. I went back to the start of the two-point conversion era in 1994 and forgot about that one.
