I’m outraged that this is what the Super Bowl thread has become. Just blind with rage.

I’m also blind with rage because today is the second time in 10 years one of my adult children has had to send me a text from the site of a random shooting to tell me they were OK. (My older was supposed to be at the Florida State University library when a guy with a gun showed up in 2015, but left to go home to retrieve a forgotten book.)

Nobody should get that message once in their lives. Much less twice.

I’m not relieved because they were OK. I’m beyond pissed because it happened at all.

Saw some video on social of bystanders tackling an alleged gunman. It's early and who knows it it's actually real, so there's that. But if it is real, a few honest-to-goodness heroes were at that parade today.

I'll reserve judgment. Looks like they were attending to someone on the ground, and appear to be at least a hundred yards away from the guy who was getting tackled. Could be a victim, could be another suspect that they had on the ground. Either way, it doesn't look like they weren't just standing there doing nothing.

Yeah too soon.

But I’m not shocked. Bosa didn’t preforme this year, there was a bunch of consternation about being in the booth until Kyle Shanahan had to put the kibosh on the talk and brought him down, they floundered in the playoffs against teams they should have dominated and had some iffy calls in the Super Bowl especially late. Mostly it probably wasn’t a great fit. It’s too bad because maybe one more year to gel would have worked but you can’t wait in the NFL when you expect to win the Super Bowl. It doesn’t help his predecessors were coveted head coach candidates.

The last time I played full-speed, full-contact pickup basketball, I was playing against a 13-year-old kid who is the son of a family friend. I was probably 40. He was an inch taller than me at the time and about my weight, except all of his was muscle. I held my own with my outside shooting, but the third or fourth time I drove the lane only to bounce off the kid nearly to half court, I figured he was probably on his way to greatness and I was on my way to two days of pain.

He grew up to be a linebacker for an SEC program.

Bonus trivia: He had to borrow the Rams jersey and maybe the helmet from the team. He was too big for the jersey they handed out to him before the game.
