Amy Schumer on finding self confidence

Guess no one saw the Oprah interview, or her movie, and she's on the warpath.

Sagalow recounted the experience on his podcast, The Stupid Little Podcast, Wednesday. “I’m five minutes into my set, I’m doing some crowd work … and then from off to the side, I hear, ‘Hey Brendan! It’s Amy Schumer! Can I do 10 minutes?’ In the middle of my set … I look over and it’s Amy, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course!’ I had no other reaction … When I’m walking off I’m like, ‘OK …’ But I’m actually happy — I’m like, ‘This is a good thing! This is a great thing!’ Everybody thinks I’m friends with Amy, she knows my name, she said she follows me on Instagram, which she mentioned. She said she ‘loves Brendan as a comic.’ She doesn’t. You put the quarter in, you play the game.”

He later added, “Everybody was like, ‘You should be mad, what a *****, that’s an awful thing to do.’ Which … it is. It is a pretty s—tty thing to do at my first headlining set with all my friends and family there, but I think it’s a good thing … I thought it was awesome, because everybody else’s headlining set at Carolines, nobody talks about it.”

When reached for comment, Sagalow told Page Six, “I’m happy I could give Amy the time on my show. A lot of people thought it was a sh–ty move on her part to interrupt me and I talked about it more in depth on my podcast, The Stupid Little Podcast, but I thought it was awesome. It didn’t throw me off one bit, I know what I’m doing on stage.”

A source close to Schumer told Page Six she had texted Sagalow beforehand letting him know she would come by and that the two are “good friends.”

Like TSP said, it got his name and podcast in the Post.

A. He's in the business. What's he supposed to say? People don't want to speak out after getting sexually assaulted, for fear of ruining their career, but you think this guy would criticize Amy Schumer, even if he wanted to?

2. Even if he is ok with it, it still doesn't mean it wasn't a rude thing for her to do.

3 things here.

1. This is not a justification for anyone being rude.

2. Celebrities like Quentin Tarantino have done this for ages and, what's more, the celebrities have usually been men.

3. I feel for Schumer in a sense. She came along at an odd time in American celebrity. I think she's been asked to stand for more than even makes her comfortable, but "empowered" celebrities rarely feel like they can say no - because she's told, so often, how many people she's speaking for - so she's put herself out there in ways that are tough to sustain. White male comics don't have to do that. They're just funny or not funny. Schumer has to be funny and representative. Not easy. Money and opportunities come with it. So do critiques and negative attention.

Correct. She wasn't doing it to help him out or get him exposure. She was doing it because her **** was more important and her level of celebrity doesn't require her to wait in line.

Did you not read it? He trashed her pretty good while "thanking" her.

I wouldn't say he trashed her. He only said it was a ****ty thing to do.

Perhaps ironically, if he had trashed her or told her to wait her turn, he may have gotten even more attention for his act and podcast.
