I'm one of the bigger Tiger critics on this board, but I think saying he doesn't care about the Ryder Cup is unfair. I think he really cares. I think the wild fist pump on the first hole of the afternoon shows that. He's had some bad matches and obviously he didn't feel comfortable playing in pairs when he was younger. But I think it matters a lot to him now. He's like Kobe in some ways. It's hard for him to look buddy buddy in the heat of competition. He's cold blooded and the Ryder Cup if often about emotion and support.

I think the idea that he'd not want to be a captain someday is just absurd. I think he would work as hard as anyone at it and would relish it someday.

Keegan of course was the star of the first day and since he's one of my favorites I hope he keeps it up. But lets not bury Tiger yet.

Double, a lot of Tiger's emotion yesterday struck me as phony. Done to show he cares more than he actually does.

Woods didn't play at all badly in the second round.

Yeah.. But this is match play. It's head-to-head vs your opponent. And Tiger couldn't "play up" enough to best the other guy. Therefore, fail. Just my opinion....

Colsaerts shot 62 on his ball. Not sure there was anything Tiger could have done, even the Tiger of old.

Great stuff, and I didn't realize until I saw the highlights Friday night that none of his birdies was from gimme range. I think his eagle putt might have been shorter than any of his birdies.

It's a mass of humanity on the course. I've heard they sold 40,000 tickets a day and I've heard 45,000. Whatever the number, it's too many for the number of players.

Overselling, both of tickets and alcohol, is what led to the fight crowd atmosphere at the Country Club in 1999. People sit in bleachers for hours before they see a golfer. It's not a good formula for golf-like audience behavior.

PS: Woods and Stricker are sitting in the morning. So is the Kuchar-D. Johnson team. Much to my astonishment, Westwood is back out there, although he's paired with Donald this morning.

It's the right move to sit Woods and Stricker in the morning matches. They've got two of the three losses. They'll be out in the afternoon, though perhaps not together. But Love has struck some nice gold with some pairings -- Bradley-Mickelson, Simpson-Watson, Dufner-Johnson. Ride those as long as you can.

Tiger will be fine. He didn't play that poorly Friday afternoon in four ball. As mentioned earlier, each player needs one session off. I mean, it's 90 holes over three days. That's a lot of golf in a short span.

Starting to like Keegan Bradley. He and Mickelson both seemed to have benefited from that pairing. Good move by Davis Love to keep them together.

Quite surprised that Lee Westwood and Luke Donald haven't played better. They need to play like their rankings if Europe is going to have a chance.

Can't believe Colsaerts hit a tee shot on the water on 17. Was 1-down to Dufner/Johnson and that basically cost them any chance at half a point.

Correct. No one was stopping Colsaerts on Friday. Not Tiger, not Mickelson ... no one.

And if DLIII tosses Tiger in front of the train with the media, not only will Tiger not ever forget it, but also he'll never get anything else out of Woods, who will also tune him out. What else was Love supposed to say, unless his attitude was poisoning his team?

Glad you're having a good time. But that's the downside to watching golf in person. Too much walking. Too large of crowds (not so bad at Champions Tour events). Harder to get a good view. But the atmosphere rocks.
