I’ve said this before, but when I covered those late 90s, early 00s Diamondbacks teams, the biggest asshole in that clubhouse wasn’t Curt Schilling, who was actually a pretty good guy to talk to before MAGA rotted his brain. It was Counsell. Throughly unpleasant guy to deal with. Just a grade A douche canoe.

In my limited interactions, he's gotten less insufferable in Chicago. But it was hard to be more insufferable than he was in Milwaukee. Always acted above every question and figured he was the smartest man in the room. At least he's bright enough to know that doesn't wear well in a big market. Then again, Theo Epstein did just fine there (helps he won, of course).

All Schilling had to do to make a nice post-retirement living was talk baseball. He's so good at that. That's it! Make a ton of scratch and never touch the pension. And this has nothing to do with his odious politics. He's just not a bright guy, as the Rhode Island debacle proved.

Turner, Schwarber, and Harper 1 for 11. The Phillies haven't and won't win many games with that stat line. Had their chances, didn't fold, but nobody got a clutch hit after Realmuto's triple. In short, they're ****ed in this series already.
