His vote was worse last year when he left Mathew’s and McDavid out of his top 5

Maybe there's an knowledgeable hockey writer in Pittsburgh who can sit beside Seth in the press box next season and explain the game to him.

Kevin Hayes traded to St. Louis for a 2024 sixth-round pick. Flyers will retain 50 percent of Hayes' $7.142 million cap hit.

Torts thinks so much of Hayes' defensive effort. ... that the team is willing to pay $3.5 million for him to play for someone else.

Hayes came up with the Rangers. So I got my fill of him. He has the physical ability to be one of the best centers in the NHL. But at least during his Rangers years he looked to be stoned out of his head all the time and he brought about 70 percent effort many nights. So I am not a huge fan. That said? At $3.5 million a year and a meaningless pick. ... St. Louis got a steal.

Agreed.

Helps with a big need. STL has invested heavily in Robert Thomas. Brayden Schenn is the other center of note.
He will play hard for Berube or Army will move him ... something already being speculated about. Not now, but at some point in the upcoming season.

Tyler Toffoli from Calgary to the Devils for Yegor Sharangovich and 3rd rounder.
Toffoli's a consistent scorer going to a playoff team. Craig Conroy isn't waiting around to see who wants to stay, so Au revoir.

Happy Connor Bedard Day to all who celebrate!

Figured tonight's draft would be a good time to kick this off.

His wife is an influencer, and since Calgary is vilified in mainstream and on social medias…hell, by Canada’s federal government, for being the center of production of two products that everyone world wide still uses in unbelievably large numbers, having an Alberta address isn’t a cool thing. Too bad, because it’s a great place.
I wish they had held on to Toffoli for a while longer. Don’t know whether ‘Smilin’ Craig’ is going to make some slick trades, a la Treleving, but he has a huge job ahead. Personally I would rather have two 4 million guys a year than one 8 million guy. Balance up and down the lineup is what you need in the NHL Western Conference.

Toffoli going to the Devils really hurts. If he only puts up 60 percent of what he did last season, his salary is a bargain. The Rangers are insanely thin at right wing, which is why the Devils getting him is such a gut punch. But Drury has done so much overpaying on contracts that even if Calgary was interested in the dog **** he has to offer, they couldn't have swung it salary cap-wise.

I swear I didn't see this thread on the first two pages. I denounce myself for starting a new one.

Also, Happy Connor Bedard Day!

Ivan Barbashev staying in Vegas with five-year deal. $5 mil per.
EDIT: Reilly Smith, an original Golden Knight, traded to Pittsburgh.

Best sex parties, ranked:
1a) every 4 years Summer Olympics
1b) every year Calgary Stampede
3) Carnivale
4) Mardi Gras
Have not attended 3 of the 4 but I can say that during Stampede Week in Calgary 99.9% of women want it every night by a different guy. I’m not kidding. It’s the only place in the world where you don’t have to show up to work for days at a time and ‘if’ anyone asks where you were you just said “Stampeding” and everyone just laughed. Drunk by 7 am and then go another 14 hours. When you met a woman she pressed her boobs into you and rubbed the inside of your leg to say ‘hello’. The 70s, 80s and 90s were prime Stampede time.
I have no idea why anyone doesn’t want to live in Calgary.

I love that Bettman at least leans into it. Manfred doesn't have even the slightest personality or self-awareness to do the same.
