The Wonderlic is a joke. But I did see Goodell on a video interview with Rich Eisen this morning, and it appears he's set up his videoconferencing for his living room. A sofa and pictures of his family behind him. I imagine it will be decorated in more traditional hideous NFL style for Thursday, like a big shield with matching big footballs behind him.
It's not a joke on the lower range. It's somewhat of an indicator.

If you have a subscription to the Athletic, Bob McGinn is doing a breakdown with quotes from executives and scouts of all the top players at each position group with their wonderlic scores so I don’t know that scores are “leaking.”

But that injury history! Seriously - I like the Dolphins getting Tua. Injuries or no, if he's healthy it's a game changer. Herbert strikes me as more of a game manager type. If you have a quality team already and just need someone to throw and handoff, you take Herbert.
With mock drafts being so prevalent, anyone know of a site that actually grades the players without regard to team needs, the QB premium etc.?

Who has been retired for a year and apparently only wanted to come back to play with Brady in Tampa. I'd say they fleeced the Bucs.

A 4th round pick looks very big in April. In November, not so much. I have no idea if Gronk can play at all, let alone at his former level. But if he can come close to the latter, then he's worth more than a 4th rounder, much more, even if it's only for a year.

Yeah, but they turned a frozen asset that was worthless to them into a relatively decent draft pick. And that's in a trade process where even star players often seem undervalued. It's like having a beat up clunker car sitting on the lawn for a year, and the day before you're ready to finally take it to the junkyard some collector drives by and offers you $5,000 for it.
The Pats might take that $5,000 and blow it on hookers, blow and scratch off tickets, but it's still a nice chunk of found money.
From Bucs POV, 4th rounder for a known productive TE? No doubter.

Nick Saban can be a ****, but he's also analytical to a fault. After Tua's first injury last season, he said it was Tua's fault because he hung on to the ball too long and was exposing himself to unnecessary hits. It sounds cold, but I wonder if there's a lot of truth in it when you see a guy who is constantly getting injured the way Tua has. His injuries have come mostly through contact, and not bad luck or freak injuries like a torn ACL while planting in the open field.
Makes you wonder if there is a major flaw in his game, hidden well by raw talent, that is going to make him a higher than average injury risk?

If Gronk had said he'd come back to the Pats this year, would they have taken a 4th rounder for him? I don't think so.
Pats had just over $1 million in cap space and him coming back added another $10 million to their books. Got what they could I guess.
I have almost no doubt that the pick gets traded. The Pats had 125 and got 139. It's a near lock there's somebody they like and move up using both of those picks to grab.
And even if they don't, they got a top 150 pick for a guy who was never going to play for them again. If the picks just turns into a backup it was a massive success

It seems like one of those trades that's fine for both teams. Gronk probably wasn't ever going to play for the Pats again, but going to Tampa for a year or two with Brady? Sure. A fourth round pick is valuable - kind of the range you get a fringe starter, good backup player - but most teams would trade it for a year or two of a player capable of All Pro potential.
