Only 4 teams in this week's Top 10 have played (at-the-time) ranked teams in back-to-back weeks:

No. 1 Alabama -- No. 20 Ole Miss (won 22-3) and No. 22 South Carolina (won 20-6). The Tide are easily the No. 1 team in the country. They've also beaten No. 7 Virginia Tech (34-24) and No. 9 LSU (24-15). That's 4-0 against ranked teams, allowing only an average of 12 points.

No. 7 Georgia Tech -- No. 20 Miami (lost 33-17), No. 22 North Carolina (won 24-7).

No. 9 Ohio State -- No. 11 Penn State (won 24-7) and No. 15 Iowa (won 27-24 in overtime)

No. 10 LSU -- No. 18 Georgia (won 20-13), No. 1 Florida (lost 13-3).

No. 11 Oregon played ranked teams back-to-back and won both over No. 18 Utah (31-24) and No. 6 Cal (42-3). The Ducks also smashed No. 4 USC (47-20).

Kentucky has played the No. 1 and No. 3 teams back-to-back (Florida and Alabama) and lost both by a combined 79-27.

Tennessee has played the No. 1 team twice (Alabama, Florida) and lost by a combined 25-13. The Vols also beat No. 21 South Carolina 31-13.

USC has played 5 ranked teams, winning back-to-back against No. 24 Cal (30-3) and No. 25 Notre Dame (34-27). The Trojans opened with a win at No. 8 Ohio State (18-15). But in the last 2 weeks they've been Boots'd by No. 10 Oregon (47-20) and No. 25 Stanford (55-21). USC has been in the top 25 for 128 consecutive polls but not this low (22) since being ranked No. 13 in 2002.

Oklahoma played back-to-back ranked teams, losing to Texas (16-13) and then winning at Kansas (35-13). The Sooners also lost to No. 20 BYU 14-13 in the opener.

No. 2 Florida? The defending champion with its entire starting defense back and a Heisman QB? The Gators have played one ranked team, slogging past LSU 13-3.

No. 3 Texas has played 2 ranked teams, beating the Oklahomas by a combined 57-16.

No. 4 TCU has played one ranked team, whupping BYU.

No. 5 Cincy has played one ranked team, whipping No. 21 South Florida, which is 2-2 against ranked teams this season.

No. 6 Boise opened with a 19-8 win over No. 16 Oregon but hasn't played a ranked team since.

No. 8 Pitt hasn't played a ranked team yet.

All of that said ...

The most impressive feat this season is by a team that remains out of the top 10: No. 14 Stanford, which just completed back-to-back wins against No. 7 Oregon (51-42) and No. 11 USC (55-21).

Where is the love for the Cardinal?

Slightly interested in what BYU has done to deserve to be No. 13. Not really pikcing on you, OZ, just don't get, at all, any of the BYU love that's out there.
In your case, Iowa, for example has wins over your No. 16 and No. 20 teams. BYU (ranked two spots higher) doesn't have a win over any of the teams in the top 25 and got their butt kicked by one team not in your Top 25. Miami has one more loss than BYU, but it beat a Florida State team that absolutely housed BYU (in Provo), and beat your No. 7 team. Anyway, not really picking on you. I'm just flummoxed why people seem to buy into this idea that BYU is a "good" football team. Or at least a "better" mediocre than the rest of the mediocrity that finds it's home below the No. 10-ish spot. There's nothing "impressive" about their resume.

Here's my thinking -- Oklahoma, while not a great win now, actually meant something months ago with Bradford in the lineup, before mounting injuries took a toll on the Sooners. And to do it on a "neutral" field in Dallas, on the Sooners' turf to open Jerryworld, meant something. That win, to me, still compares favorably to the best Oklahoma State (Georgia), Iowa (Penn State), Penn State (Temple), Virginia Tech (Miami), Clemson (Miami) -- teams I have ranked below BYU -- have faced this season.

And say what you will about the BYU loss, but there are few teams without a baffling one this deep into the season. How did Pitt lose to N.C. State? Oklahoma State at home to Houston? Iowa at home to Northwestern? Clemson to Maryland?

So BYU has one good win (Oklahoma), one bad loss (5-5 Florida State) and another loss we saw coming (TCU). My guess is we can say that about most of the teams we rank between 12 and 25.

I guess I just don't expect a team to have two cover-your-eyes bad losses at home. Those play a big factor for me. Getting waxed out of your own building by Florida State seems like a worse loss than barely losing to Northwestern. And even if a victory over a Bradford's-healthy-for-a-half Oklahoma is better than one at Penn State, BYU has absolutely nothing else on it's resume to hang it's hat on, and I'd put victories at Penn State and over Arizona as more impressive than any two wins (Oklahoma and whatever the heck else you want) for BYU.
Just playing devil's advocate for the sake of debate...but that's my general take (using BYU and Iowa. I feel like another case could easily be made for other teams being above BYU, too).

A 31-point home loss to anyone is not a loss we should see coming for a team you believe should be ranked 13th. When highly-ranked teams lose big, they fall big, even if it's at the No. 1 team. The Oklahoma win is good, but not as good as we thought it'd be. Most of their other wins are fine, though only beating sorry-ass New Mexico by 5 would not reflect well on a BCS conference team in the top 15.

I don't see these guys as top 15. Maybe a win over Utah at the end would convince me, but not based on the resume put forth.

I'm confused. You mention Cincy's only victory over a ranked team as coming against South Florida, then have Pitt not playing a ranked team yet. Was South Florida not ranked when it lost to Pitt?
