Colorado hanging with Okie State.

Big doings out here is that wins by Oregon and Oregon State Saturday set up a Civil War for the Rose Bowl. That would be pretty big.

Otherwise the sked this week has a serious case of the blahs.

Ohio State fans I know are worried about the Michigan game. I mean, I know Buckeyes aren't literate, so I know they haven't read about Michigan. But geez, have they even seen Michigan play this year?

I realize it's Michigan, but they've got the Rose Bowl locked - there isn't a way for them to move into the BCS game, why not just enjoy a stress-free weekend.

I was just about ready to write off Colorado, but they just ran back a kickoff for six.
Now if only they could get a running game going.

Oklahoma State's QB is out, which means the Cowboys are playing this game without their top three players from last year (Robinson, Bryant and Hunter).

And Colorado is playing WITH it's quarterbacks. I'd like to see Hawkins get another year, but he needs to show some growth since he took over, and the Buffs don't seem like they are getting better.

After the fiasco that was the John Cooper years, there is no such thing as a stress-free week when playing "that school up north."

So I looked through the lines and found nine games I like. Only problem is....they're all laying a TON of wood. All but one -- Notre Dame -- is laying double digits.

This can't be good. And it surely will not end well.

Not a fan of Albom, but he nailed it today.

Hey....I resemble that remark....

First game in the rivalry that I physically attended, was the '69 game. Learned a HARD lesson, at a young age, re: what this game means & what can happen.

This is a young OSU team, who's gone through a "complete rebuild" season. They've already achieved their "realistic" ultimate goal for the season (Conference title, Rose Bowl). Very few seniors to really rally them up. Michigan is in circle the wagons mode. Yes....I absolutely expect the Skunk Bears to win this game....possibly handily.

LSU at Ole Miss should be fairly interesting. Two teams headed in opposite directions, just as they were last year.

Were this game a month ago, I'd say LSU wins handily, but not now. Again, the game will be for the Cotton Bowl.

If Ole Miss wins, Oklahoma State somehow slips into the Fiesta Bowl and Texas Tech beats Oklahoma and Baylor to finish third in the South, does that mean the Cotton gets Ole Miss-Tech again? I suppose they could take Nebraska if they win the North, but the good folks in Dallas (if you've ever covered that game, you know what I mean) have to be tired of getting the Red Raiders or Huskers every year ...

It's going to be pretty damn funny when UConn's leading by three with two minutes left.

Sorry, Charlie.

Now see, Slap...you missed a GREAT opportunity to take a cheap shot at the whole "OH....IO..." cheer that we Buckeye types are so in love with. Clip art...it's a crutch, my brotha'.....

Nope... but I think Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News hit it on the head yesterday...

"The Buckeyes are loaded for bear, which is better than a Buckeye loaded and bare, I suppose. They'll start ambling into town any moment now, overrunning our White Castles, taking up two stools per person. The game should be close for a while, but I have a feeling we'll hear those drunken chants of "O-H! O-I!" deep into Saturday night."

I actually think the game is for the Capital One Bowl. If Arkansas can win its last two games, I'd lay heavy odds that they are headed to Dallas.

Some football trivia from the Heartland:

After Colorado's close call (but still a loss) at Oklahoma State, the Big 12 North stands at 5-12 against the Big 12 South.

With Kansas at Texas on Saturday night, looks like the North will finish 5-13, continuing a trend that I'm pretty sure has held since the Big 8 became the Big 12.

Only Big 12 North team to have two wins against the South? Nebraska, which also is the only team to record a win against someone besides Baylor or Texas A&M. The Huskers beat the Sooners.

Should be an interesting matchup. From what I've seen of the Buckeyes, they can't pass. From what I've seen of Michigan, they can't defend the pass. Who grabs their ankles worse on Saturday?
