What did you think of the season opener?

I like the way it's going so far, but wish they'd cut back on introducing new super natural beings. I guess it's all there in the books (which I haven't read), but would prefer from simplistic standpoint just to leave it at vampires and maybe werewolves.

Let's see, we've got vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, werepanthers, a Greek goddess, fairies good and bad it seems, witches ...

i tune in to watch out of habit at this point. it's up against NOTHING in its time slot this summer, unless showtime cranks up one of its shows on sundays soon. but 'true blood' is little more than background noise to me at this juncture. this whole vampire craze just doesn't do it for me. ::)

This show is starting to feel a little like Lost for me at this point. It got off to a very strong start but now there are so many side stories and such going on that I just want to head toward the finish line.

The premier was not very good, but we enjoyed last season, so we'll stick it out.
I was ready to give up at the premier of the second season but stuck with it.
I'm not watching anything else during a summer Sunday evening.

Have they added a kraken yet? Or trolls? Or Swamp Thing?

They need more mythological creatures.

It is time for Eric to release his kraken. Seriously, though, I have read all the books, and the mythological creatures are all over the place. Including trolls. But, they are more like wallpaper. The TV show features them much, much more, probably to its detriment. Still, True Blood is a great way to pass a summer Sunday night. I always look forward to it.

I thought there would be more interest from you horndogs in the new "Tara-is-a-cage-fighting-lesbian" storyline.

Did the girl from Big Bang Theory ever get naked on True Blood?

She did not. Think she played a religious fanatic, of sorts.

At least there are books to follow. I don't know how closely. My wife is the True Blood fan.

The TV show no longer follows the books. At all. You may as well read the Berenstain Bears for True Blood plot developments and clarification.

Were the ugly fairy people trying to capture Sookie fairies or something else pretending to be fairies? I wasn't sure on that.

I think those were the "bad" fairies. They do exist in the books.

Tara annoys the hell out of me. She needs to die and soon.

That's why I stopped reading the books somewhere around the beginning of the fifth one when...

spoiler...stop reading now if you care...

Jason became a were-panther. The books were not great writing, but I was willing to overlook that because the premise was interesting and it had some good characters. But the never-ending parade of new supernatural concepts was just too much.

Yeah, I gave up comparing them to the books after the 2nd season...but so glad Jessica is on the show. Damn I love me them redheads.

As for the season 4 premier, meh. We had free HBO this weekend to see it, but I'm not going to be trying to track it down on Bittorrent next Monday...maybe for Entourage, but not this. I got Psyche and Eureka to keep me busy.

I guess I keep watching it just because HBO Sunday night at 9 p.m. is habit. I enjoy True Blood well enough and will continue watching just to see what happens, but don't count it among the top HBO original shows. It can't compare with Game of Thrones that just went off nor Boardwalk Empire which will follow it.

I've hated Tara since Season 1, Episode 1.

I'd like for Jessica to come in and say, "I want to suck your ...."

I've enjoyed 'True Blood.' It's not as good as 'Rome' or 'Curb,' but I've liked it better than 'Game of Thrones.'
Who knows if this season will be good, but I would take any of the first three seasons over 'Game of Thrones.'
