For someone who made her mark making sex noises to a disco beat, she was pretty devout. She definitely had the pipes, but her material never served her well

Tampa Bay Times Media Critic is also announcing Summer has died.

RIP.

Now I am having trouble getting "Last Dance" out of my head. I will be hearing it all day.

Songbird. Enjoyed almost everything she did from her disco Casablanca days through the first Geffen album then sort of lost track. But she's part of the soundtrack of my youth ....

And seeing those headlines all over the place.

I love this song, which Brian Eno went happy ape**** over when he was recording with David Bowie in Germany:

Hoping against hope that not every newspaper in America tomorrow leads with the headline, "Last Dance."

RIP, Ms. Summer.

Saw Donna Summer eating lunch at a chain restaurant in Nashville over Christmas last year. Even given the modest location, she was diva-ed out. Looked great.

The world will probably be surprised to find out she lived in Music City.

As a true lover of the disco genre, this is major news.

(A1 debate? :). )

So much of disco came from one hit wonders and producers swapping singers in and out.

For disco, it is Donna Summer and KC & The Sunshine Band. Otherwise, you have anonymous one hit wonders and established artists (Stones/Rod Stewart) who had a disco phase.

RIP to a legend.

RIP

I heard Last Dance on the way in, and I forgot how epically long that song is.

But what a voice. So damn smooth.

Someone left the cake out in the rain.

MacArthur Park by Donna Summer > MacArthur Park by Richard Harris.

Love To Love You Baby is very, very high on the list of most erotic/pornographic songs to hit the charts. Strike that. It's No. 1 on the list.

Here's the -- holy **** -- 17-minute version.

I Feel Love is also awesome.

RIP.

Maybe there will be a "Heaven Knows" reference or two ...

Where do the Bee Gees fit in this?
