The baseball scenes in Bad News Bears were filmed at Chatsworth Park in the San Fernando Valley.

A lot of the opposing players came from the nearby Northridge Little League, where I had played. The kid who gets kicked in the nuts by Boyle is the younger brother of one of my classmates.

I shook hands with Grady Fuson at a minor league ballpark opening in 2003. Sadly it wasn't a $100 handshake. He forgot to remove a hand warmer pack because it was a pretty cold day in February.

Orel Hershiser was there too and joked, "Is this the temperature of Pensacola?"
