I might be missing something here but I get a very strong feeling that Tim Tebow is not well liked. I'm trying to figure out why he has that image. He's seems cordial and friendly and I know he's staunchy religious but the way he's talked about reminds me of the days when Ty Detmer was in college at BYU.
What's your take on Tebow?

People are uncomfortable with religion thrown in their face, preferring to handle it in their own pace and time.
That and the whole Florida/SEC thing.

I want to know which coach didn't vote for him on the preseason All-SEC team. I think it's down to Miles, Saban, Chizik, Nutt and Spurrier.

My guess is Spurrier.

I kind of think that people have a bigger thing against Florida than they do against Tebow. But since he is "the face" of Florida football, he becomes an easy target to dislike.

Dude wants you to think he's all pious and service oriented, then starts jawing at opponents and gesturing to their fans. Plus, I think people are tired of the incessant media bleating about what a fine fellow he is. Of course, those kids in Indonesia that got free circumcisions from him probably think he's OK.

There's nothing wrong with an athlete loving the Lord and talking about it. Football is an emotional game. There's nothing wrong with good-spirited jawing.

Maybe it was Meyer. Some leagues have a rule that you can't vote for your own guys.

That's how the SEC works, which means 11 of 12 votes is unanimous. He only got 10 votes, apparently.

Who cares? This is a non-issue but it answers the original question for me. Tim Tebow, I have no problem with. The people who look at him like he's the greatest athlete ever to put on a jock strap, please give it a rest.

Listen...I didn't say it was a matter of national security. Just curious. That's all.

Relax.

Saban on reporters asking the coaches who didn't vote for Tebow, paraphrashing....

"I think it's ridiculous. I think people should be able to vote for whoever they want without being criticised for it. That's why we've fought in a lot of wars, to have the right to vote."

Awesome!

I wonder how the "donations" from Bull Gators are flowing this year to his dad's non-profit.

Name one time Tim Tebow has thrown religion in anyone's face. Unless they're offended he puts a bible verse on his eye black. Ohhhhh.... that's violating church and state.

I will grant you ... that's a story that needs to be written.

Hondo: I don't necessarily think it's HIM throwing it in their face. He's no Kurt Warner. But every conversation about him in any article, any TV interview, any game, etc. becomes an exercise in espousing his Christianity and all his goodness.

I realize I may be part of the problem, but I don't like my athletes perfect. The fact the kid is deified every time he's shown on TV just gets to be overload for some people.

Add in the fact that I'm about the least religious person around, and it just makes me never want to hear another word about the guy. Ever.
