The NBA was involved in quite the academy operation over there.

Sources: NBA China academies were abusive

I guess ESPN’s investigative unit will finally force all their afternoon NBA shows to deal with this.

American coaches at three NBA training academies in China told league officials their Chinese partners were physically abusing young players and failing to provide schooling, even though commissioner Adam Silver had said that education would be central to the program, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the complaints.

The NBA ran into myriad problems by opening one of the academies in Xinjiang, a police state in western China where more than a million Uighur Muslims are now held in barbed-wire camps. American coaches were frequently harassed and surveilled in Xinjiang, the sources said. One American coach was detained three times without cause; he and others were unable to obtain housing because of their status as foreigners.

A former league employee compared the atmosphere when he worked in Xinjiang to "World War II Germany."

White conservative America's sudden interest in totalitarian China - as expressed by its red hot criticisms of LeBron James and the NBA - is noted.

Where were all these righteous right wing voices when it was just WalMart and Apple and 1000 other US companies in bed with Xi and his gulag trusties?

Very well.

Republicans cheerleaded going to war in Iraq because they supposedly had WMDs (LOL), they had an evil dictator, and they oppressed their own people. China has WMDs, an evil dictator, and oppresses its own people.

So when are we attacking China, Republicans?

China is the 3rd C in the 3C trump re-election plan. Culture. Corona. China. these are the trump ally talking points distributed last week.

Trump, and team, are going to lie about Corona, it’s under control. Great national effort to reduce it. We are winning thanks to trump.

Culture. The left is disunion, violence and oppression. Just follow trump and it’s a great country.

China. The enemy. Their virus. The started a war against the USA and they oppress. China is the boogeyman. Trump is John Wick.
They send troops to quell civilian uprisings (oops, that’s US)

There’s actually a 4th C, but they won’t say it. Coloreds. They are the real problem. If they just shut up, did their work, and took care of their families, none of this would happen. Trump will work to wedge the blacks from the rest of the voters. Started this with his suburban housing diatribe, look for the allies who are talking about a China to pivot towards coloreds as the internal enemy as China Is the external threat.

How are Republicans going to solve the problem of Chicago's gang violence now that they are concentrating on China's humanitarian issues?

I'm glad ESPN did the story.

But after years of not caring about China or the Chinese or Apple or the Foxconn Suicides or freedom of expression, the newly minted indignation from racist grifters like Clay Travis rings a little false.

In fact isn't this the same crowd that was stoked when Foxconn convinced them to build a factory in Wisconsin?

Reader, it is.

So you think the US should bring all those jobs back stateside? Or deploy a fierce tariff on imported goods?

Otherwise, I’m not sure how the whataboutism of Republicans or conservatives are related to this particular story, or this thread. Did the investigative writers work at the behest of Hawley and Blackburn, or something?
