We also know that when he was taken into police custody hours later, aboard a Paris-bound jetliner that was moments from takeoff at John F. Kennedy International Airport, police found him comfortably ensconced in the first-class cabin.

I didn’t think this was how socialists were supposed to roll.

The tinge of opulent decadence that colors the whole episode would seem, at first impression, to cast a dishonorable light on powerful, unaccountable, jet-setting international bureaucrats in general, with perhaps a special spotlight of shame for the French-intellectual variety. But Strauss-Kahn, who is based at IMF headquarters in Washington, was apparently in New York on private business. It is conceivable that he and his peers, while carrying out their official duties on behalf of humanity, make do with hotel rooms costing less per night than most workers of the world earn in a year.

French media name the accuser:

Her identity has been withheld in U.S. media publications, in accordance with standard journalistic practice. But media outlets in France, where Strauss-Kahn is from, began reporting her name Tuesday.

Among the outlets to identify the woman by name are Paris Match, radio station RMC, Swiss newspaper Tribune de Genève and Slate.fr, according to Slate.com. (Slate.fr is a French website that is editorially independent from Slate, although Slate does own 15 percent of it.)

Slate.fr, citing relatives of the accuser, reports that the woman is a legal immigrant from the west African nation of Guinea and is of the Fulani ethnic group. She is a Muslim who has been living in the U.S. since 1998, when she followed her then-husband to the United States. The pair later divorced, according to the report, and the woman is now a single parent of a 15-year-old daughter.

"She is a good Muslim. She is really pretty, like many Fulani women, but in our culture, we do not accept this type of aggression," a cousin of the woman told slate.fr.

The New York Times reported she was granted asylum seven years ago, is a widow and speaks French and some English.

France's extradition policies are what bit DSK in the ass. If they hadn't let Roman Polanski hide under their cloak all those years, and flaunted a policy of never extraditing one of their own (particularly when it is an American court of law asking), DSK wouldn't be sitting in Rikers Island right now.

Their delicate sensibilities -- seeing him unshaven and subjected to a perp walk. So, so undignified. The "death by media" quote from the death penalty opponent was especially sweet.

We get it. France is the self-proclaimed home of human rights. Of course, the self-rightous bull**** doesn't hide the fact that there isn't a French jail that doesn't make Rikers look like the suite DSK was in at the Sofitel. And Rikers is a hell hole.

They have a law barring showing someone in handcuffs before he's convicted. They do those kinds of laws so well. They love to proclaim how much more sensitive to human rights they are compared to the rest of us. Of course, then the guy gets sent to a place the European Court of Human Rights has continuously labeled inhumane. But it's OK, I guess, because they guarantee your right to a shave on the way over to court.

The French are dying to point out how dignified and discrete and fair they are compared to us barbarians. Unfortunately, it's a lot like the leader of a political party that claims it is committed to social justice having a taste for champagne and caviar and luxury hotel suites paid for by the people whose welfare he's committed to looking out for.

The IMF chief's alleged sex-assault victim lives in a Bronx apartment rented exclusively for adults with HIV or AIDS, The Post has learned.

The hotel maid, a West African immigrant, has occupied the fourth-floor High Bridge pad with her 15-year-old daughter since January -- and before that, lived in another Bronx apartment set aside by Harlem Community AIDS United strictly for adults with the virus and their families.

The Post has not been able to ascertain whether the maid, 32, has HIV/AIDS because of medical confidentiality laws.

But the agency rents apartments only for adults with the disease. A Harlem United worker said at least one adult in the household has to be HIV-positive or have AIDS to qualify for one of their units. A healthy adult with a child with HIV or AIDS is not eligible.

"The [current] apartment isn't rented under her name. Harlem [Community AIDS] United places their tenants in our building," explained an employee of the apartment building's property manager, Chaim Gross, of Brooklyn.

The maid had previously lived in another High Bridge apartment rented by Harlem United, a source said. She had moved there with her child in 2008.
