Funny. Not true. The dead asshole never ****s up his finances and investments and bails himself out by bailing out on Cleveland, and Belichick and his crew of rising stars wins at least one Super Bowl on the shores of Lake Erie. If the dead asshole is voted into the Hall of Fame, I'll go and spit on his bust.

I was 11 when news broke the team was on the way out, most important age for sports fandom. Not bitter. Not at all.

I was the same age at the time. Crushed by it. I don't want to hijack this into a Browns discussion (because I'm sure all of four people are interested) but the only reservation I had about where Bellichick had the franchise before Modell moved it was my question of whether Testaverde really could've won a Super Bowl. He was very good in the late 1990s and Saban had built a hell of a defense before he left for East Lansing, but I just don't know if Testaverde could've gone into a playoff game and outplayed Elway in the late 1990s. I guess we'll never know, but it would've been pretty crazy if the Browns had stayed around and been a perennial playoff team with Elway once again standing in their way.

More than just a jacket. It was also a geography lesson.

This "Browns would've won the Super Bowl had Belichick stayed" revisionist history, spawned in large part by that NFL Network special this past fall, is 100 loads of nonsense.

I never felt the Browns in the mid-1990s were destined to win a Super Bowl. I do think they were set up to be a perennial playoff team, which means you have a puncher's chance at a Super Bowl.

I've got one of these bad boys hanging in my closet from a trip to the Big Apple in 1985 or '86. I'm just guessing it no longer fits. It...uhhh...shrunk in the closet. Yeah, that's it.

Edit: I went and found my Yankees jacket and tried it on. I could snap it closed, but I'm about 10 or 15 pounds away from that being a viable fashion option at this point in my life.

And, I just remembered this: On that same trip to New York, I came close to buying this jacket as well. Good call not to. That's all a white kid in the middle of Texas needed, a Michael Jackson Thriller jacket.

As usual...I am ahead of the curve, busted mine out back in July and will be wearing it on Sunday proudly:

as you can see...it's been a few years since I wore it:

I had a half-zip Magic jacket in the mid-'90s because every kid my age had a half-zip Magic jacket. Or so it seemed.

Had the skinny style Celtics jacket for wayyyyyy too long.

I ****ing hated these because I couldn't afford them. My $20 coat couldn't hang.

I couldn't afford one in junior high or high school, but I bought my OU coat during my freshman year of college, when I was replete in scholarship money and financial aid assistance.

First gig right out of college, was Asst. Mgr. at a Finish Line store. Next to the newest Jordan, NOTHING was a bigger theft target than Starter jackets. D*mned near got shot over a display arm of Starter jackets......HATE those things, to this day....

Niners colors and logo always look sharp to me.

Still have a Niners Super Bowl champions jacket that has the 4 years they won the Super Bowl on the 80 stitched on it. Always said back in the day, I'd have to get future years sewn in. Maybe after Sunday, I will have to go get 1994 and 2013 added.

When I first saw this thread, I was definitely thinking Members Only jackets.

It's funny how some sports gear becomes iconic, even if the team is no longer. I remember Snoop wore an out-of-business AHL team's jersey in an early video (think it was the Springfield Indians), and sales went through the roof.

I've got a Starter Minnesota State pullover jacket. Yes, the Minnesota State in "Coach." Sears had a collection of Screaming Eagles merchandise, caps, jackets, polos, the whole nine yards as if the school was real. Found this stuff at one of the stores in Overland Park.

Apparently, the stuff didn't sell well. The jacket, which would have been about $100 if it had been a real team, was on clearance for $25. Then the cashier said that I'd get another 20 percent off if I agreed to sign up for a Sears credit card. So I got it for $20.

The best Starter coats were the circa 1990-91 all-black ones with the big team logo on the back, and not the cursive lettering that would follow.

Tony stylin' and profilin'.

Anyone remember these?
