Historical:Being part Cherokee that the Trail of Tears never happened. MLK was still with us. Personal: If I had waited one more week and gone to Marquette University rather than University of Dayton. If I had decided to stay in Las Vegas rather than move back to New York City.

Butterfly Effect.
Grandfather Paradox.

I suspect it would be good to have them write into the constitution that the electoral college sunsets after the 1996 election, but who knows if things are even more screwed up than they actually are.

I think the Civil War was inevitable as soon as the ink was dry on The Constitution given the different economies of the north and south and feelings about slavery. That said, Lincoln would have been better off not trying to appeal for "unity" as the Civil War wound down with his choice of Johnson. He seemed keenly interested in having a "War Democrat" to help re-unite the country after the war. He ended up helping forge many of the problems that continue to exist today.
There is a long list of political missteps made during the final phases of wars that end up leaving long shadows for decades after wars end. WWI, WWII. as well.

If you watch the election night film of NBC/CBS covering the 1960 election, they predict the end of the EC because for much of the night it appeared neither candidate would hit 270.

The EC is the total opposite of the one man, one vote approach which is the backbone of democracy. It needs to go away. But never will.

They could always modify the EC. But it will only change when Dems win an election without winning the popular vote. I do wonder what happens if Texas ever flips blue.

I almost think the number of Texas counties, 254, is a bigger obstacle than the voter ID numbers. Texas has a really screwy election system if you want to look into it. All by design of course.

“Hey Eve.”

“Who are you? Where did you come from? How did you get in this garden? Why are you covering up most of your skin?”

“That’s not important right now. Hey listen to me very carefully …”

“I better get that guy who gave me his rib …”

“No, no, please, just listen. You know that tree that the Lord told you to not eat the fruit from?”

“How do you know about that?”

“Nevermind, just please listen. A talking snake … yes, a talking snake … is going to tell you to eat the fruit from that tree. Don’t do it. Better yet, get Rib Man to kill the talking snake. It’ll be much better for all of us.”

I wouldn't erase the 2nd, but I'd certainly make it clear and defined.
If I could do much of anything, I'd add term limits into Article I and most certainly Article III.
