Saddam Hussein will be executed no later than Saturday, said an Iraqi judge authorized to attend his hanging. The former dictator's lawyers said he had been transferred from U.S. custody, but an Iraqi official said he was still in the hands of American guards.

When you commit suicide bombings and crash planes into buildings, you're taking yourself out.

As to the "bastards" who plan these kinds of attacks . . . we screwed the pooch 4 years ago when we had 'em on the run. Instead, we ****ed around and went into Iraq.

They aren't "crazies." They're an overwhelming percentage of the population and they only thing they have in common is they all hate us.
This is stupid and wrong, but the whole adventure has been so stupid and wrong that it hardly matters. Saddam hasn't been relevant to anyone except the bunkered idiots in the administration for two years now.
On the brighter side, CNN did find an expert on hanging who brought along an anatomical visual aid to show how it works.

When I say "crazies", I'm talking about the Saddam loyalists. Not the average guy in Iraq, who is probably more than happy with the idea of Saddam dangling from a noose.

I am not that much of a sadist.

There was a discussion about whether clips would be aired on All Things Considered this afternoon. Former network news producer said the evening newscasts would not touch it, but he could see a cable news channel airing it latenight, given that the footage, if ever leaked out, gets put on YouTube in 10 minutes or less.

I almost guarantee that Fox News will be the first -- and possibly the only -- one to air it.

AP, according to the CBS affiliate here, is reporting Saddam will be executed at 9 p.m. tonight. Don't know if that's EST or CST.
