The government we illegally overthrew was not communist. Prime Minister Mossadegh wanted Iranian oil nationalized. So did most Iranians. That was their right, and that's a main reason he was elected. At the time, the British controlled the Iranian oil industry. If the Brits and the US hadn't have been so intent on screwing the Iranians out of their natural resources, it's doubtful that Mossadegh would have been as antagoinstic to the West. What do you expect people to do when they're getting ****ed over, smile and ask for more? People have the right to defend themselves.
We don't have the right to overthrow democratically elected governments, period.

No, they didn't.
They wanted to control who they sold the oil to, and they wanted to get out from under Anglo-British. They didn't like the Russians any more than they liked us, Russia having swiped Baku and Maikop oil fields after WWI.

Last night some talk radio host said the hanging should be on pay-per-view and that it would show kids the consequences of being a brutal dictator who tortured and killed millions of people.
I'm not sure how many aspiring heads of state are out there who could actually learn anything from it.

The thing that makes Saddam's death EVEN worse for him is that tomorrow is like Christmas(Eid) day for us Muslims.

Figuring the guy has billions stashed away somewhere, wouldn't it possible that one of his nephews could fork over a million or two to some impovershed prison guard, drag in some bum who looked at his sister at the market, throw a hood over his head and up up up he goes....while Saddam gets a shave and a hairjob in Parcells #4, and a plane ticket to Gstaad?

Yep, and my knowledge of Islam is sketchy, but I know that this is some bad timing. People aren't supposed to be executed on religious holdays in general. Don't the Shia have problems with this happening on a holiday? What the **** is going on over there?

This morning, CNN said it was going to be done today so it could be done before the holiday began.
Can you shed light on that for us, Chuck? Does the holiday begin at a certain time tomorrow?

Well,wirish, I'm Sunni so I don't know alot of the Shia's rules. And spup, it dosn't exactly start at a specific time. But there is an important prayer that is supposed to be prayed at a specific time.
