Anyone familiar with the Mon Valley of western Pennsylvania knows that there's always a bit of nepotism and cronyism and just overall weirdness to the area, but this is new even for their standards. McKeesport has been one of the top football teams for decades, winning the state title in 1994 and 2005. This week, the head football coach resigned after the board made a motion to table rehiring his staff. The coach, Matt Miller, is the son of Guy Miller, who is the head of a controversial church in town. Many of McKeesport's staff are church members, and two testified as character witnesses for a man accused of murder. Just one problem: the victim was the daughter and unborn grandchild of Brandon Short, former McKeesport star who went to the NFL and played for the Giants. Short, who has started an organization against gun violence in memory of his kid, spoke out about this to the press this week and all hell broke loose.
