I’m certainly gonna see Doomsday. But I’m in the same place as I was after Infinity War/End Game. They were so big, so well done and such a fitting conclusion, I’m not sure the stakes can matter like that again.

It’s been a long time now, so maybe that’s sufficient to recharge, and it could be good, as long as the story is done well.

Remember when Marvel made good movies? It's been a while, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day is excellent. I saw it with my daughter today, and we both loved it. The movie looks amazing. It's got some very funny moments, but the characters are well-written, and the cast is excellent.

I just happened to check Twitter when I got home from seeing it, and someone had downloaded the entire movie.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Leaks Online: Millions Watched Bootleg Before It Was Taken Down

I thought Brand New Day was great. Probably my favorite Marvel Spider-Man. Just a good, well-paced story. Dark and light. Changes. Growing up. All the things.

There seemed to be callouts to the original Spider-Man movie, I believe there was at least one Easter egg to the video game, which if so, nice, and just a lot of fun, and considering those, I'm sure more from the Spider-Man universe.

Obviously it will be interesting how it ties into the rest of whatever they are doing right now, but it stands alone just fine for me. Really good stuff.

This is as close to a perfect movie as I have seen.

Possibly the best Marvel movie - that includes Winter Soldier and Endgame.

If you have been lucky enough to avoid spoilers, like I have been, the reveal is huuuuuuuuuggggggggeeeeeee. Completely moved the universe forward and appropriately.

The handling of Peter, MJ and Ned was perfect.

They better not wait this ****ing long to make the next one.

Even though No Way Home has not aged as well for me as some, it would have still been top five for me going in, and I think this is a lot better honestly, so it at least replaces that. It does seem like about the most complete Marvel film to me.

I knew there was a big character but I too kept away from spoilers and my wife and I just looked at each other with that, that's interesting face. Of course since, because everything reads your mind, I have seen tons of actual non-spoiler warnings about it. But that's probably because we talked about it after. I think it can be a very big deal for Marvel depending on how they handle it, but I don't know how they handle anything anymore.

I too thought the handling of MJ and Ned was great. The ending was chef's kiss.

Like many people, I knew the big character reveal ahead of time. My daughter did not, and she turned and gave me this happy, what-the-hell face, so it definitely worked best if you didn't know.

I have heard some criticism of including that character, saying that it was just Marvel setting up future projects rather than focusing on Spider-Man. That's crap. They told a good story, and that character was a big part of that story.

Now that I've had time to think about it, my biggest complaint about the movie is that there is one part where I think the Punisher's behavior is out of character. I am a huge fan of Jon Bernthal's version of the Punisher, so that bugs me a little. On the other hand, my daughter and I both got some good laughs out of that part of the movie.

That criticism is out there, but the chemistry between the two was so great and the humor was almost needed, it is tough to be too down on it. I haven't seen the show, so it was my first real experience with his character, which probably influences my opinion too.

I think this storyline can both advance Marvel and Spider-Man. It is a little weird to say since you have the elements of No Way Home, but really, I think this movie could pretty much stand on its own, which is part of what makes it great.

Just say Spider Man: Brand New Day with my daughter and we both enjoyed it. She cried like three times during the movie. I thought it was well done and explained what was happening with Ned, MJ and Peter since the last movie. And the interactions between The Punisher and Spider Man were great.

One thing that bothered me is how are there mulitple attacks on Defense Ministry (or whatever they were called) buildings in New York and the City wasn't a police state? People were just going about their lives. If that happened in real life, I would imagine there would be police everywhere, checkpoints, the whiole thing.

Got rained out for golf so made it a movie day. Picked Spider-Man over The Odyssey since I know how The Odyssey ends and it can’t get spoiled. Gotta see it on the big screen soon though.

I really loved it. Holland is so good in the role. And now playing it so long, he’s grown up and it feels right as the character is does the same.

No spoilers for a while, but clearly it’s not the last we’ve seen of Holland’s Spider-Man.

He really sank more into a New York accent this time, or at least I noticed it more in this one. That was cool. Most of the movie had a smaller, grittier, street-level feel. A guy who’s been pretty much isolated in New York for a long time. Even though very little of this one was shot in NYC, they did a pretty good job with that vibe.

And as noted here, the “secret” character was well done. Served a major role in the story and at the same time kicks off a whole new and highly anticipated MCU direction.

I will say this movie is better if you are a fan of Marvel entirely. My wife and daughter love Marvel movies, but they don’t know Marvel cover to cover like I do so the big moment did not phase them but knocked me through the back of my seat.

And I call this movie perfect because of how the plot of the MCU was advanced.

This movie was a chapter in a much larger novel, and it was done perfectly.

I noticed how Holland's accent got better, too. It is a cool little detail.

Just finished Spiderman's 2026. Pretty solid summer flick - They almost do interesting things the entire time but then don't. But I enjoy seeing my Marvel friends and seeing some good actors have fun. I kind of doubt I'll ever watch this one again though, whereas the previous movies are more rewatchable. I'm also getting a bit tired of this being movie X about how you can't be a loner and need to trust other people, but I realize that could just be the 42-year-old that's now seen 40+ superhero movies talking.
