I thought Fantastic Four was really good - even better than I expected. Galactus was well done even I have always had the same questions about his size as Batman. I was worried about how the Thing would look but I thought he looked good. The setting was well done helping to soften some of the 60s-era cheesiness the FF is often saddled with.

And yes, no origin story was a great move. Just get on with the super hero-ing. I don’t need to see Peter bitten by a spider.

Saw Fantastic Four today - I'm not sure if I'm in the "meh" or "this sucks" category yet. The movie feels like it couldn't decide if it wanted to lean more into sincere emotion or being funny, so it's a weird half-and-half. Also, it's not as chopped and screwed as The Marvels, but it feels like a movie that just had scenes chopped and shortened, instead of rewriting them to be tighter.

I think I would have liked it more if they had gone with a breezier movie with the scenes that were rumored to be cut. Instead, as a guy with a 1-year-old at home, the movie felt especially fraught to me at times.

This is the first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday. It had been showing before the new Avatar movie, but Disney released it online today. I put it in a spoiler because even the image from the YouTube video spoils something important that hadn't been announced yet. (Though I'm sure most MCU fans knew this last week.)

I have a bad feeling that when this scene shows up in the movie, it is going to be followed very quickly by the **** hitting the fan.

I knew the movie had been delayed once or twice, but I didn't realize it was nearly a year away. That sucks. Hurry this **** up and take my money, dammit.

They're just putting every tangentially Disney character in this thing, aren't they?

I know I'm easy money for these guys, but still, this looks like fun.

It looks like a interesting blend of a number of storylines from the comics. I noticed beats from "One More Day," "Brand New Day," and "The Other" as well as Amazing Spider-Man #129, which was the first appearance of The Punisher in Marvel Comics. I have heard some cool theories about how the Hulk might fit into the story as well.

On the other hand, I'm a little worried that the movie is going to be overstuffed. We see Spider-Man wanting to reconnect with MJ and Ned. We see Hand ninjas and the Scorpion. We know Tombstone is in the movie. We see the Punisher. We see a character in a hoodie who seems to be Sadie Sink's character, who is rumored to be a major Marvel character. We see Spider-Man mutating and interacting Bruce Banner. That seems like way too many plotlines for one movie.

I like the thought that Spider Man primarily battles NYC villains and does not operate on a global scale.

I'm enjoying it so far, but the big moment from Episode 4 didn't hit me as hard as it is hitting others.

My excitement for this one is muted because I still don't trust how they are going to bring back RDJ and Chris Evans in a way that makes sense.

I'll see it, and I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but it still feels like a silly stunt.

They aren't bringing back Tony Stark. This Downey playing Victor Von Doom. I thought they should have cast someone new, and I am curious how they will explain him looking like Stark, but it isn't bringing anyone Stark back.

I kind of assume the answer is "multiverse bull****," to explain why Doom looks like Tony Stark. Like in one universe, Doom gets switched with Tony Stark at birth, and he becomes even more of a tyrant than Comic Book Doom or some **** like that. Because I'm assuming you don't give the bag to RDJ just to keep him behind the mask the whole time.

re: Doomsday, all the marketing and info about the movie just seems to get sweatier with each failure at Disney. I realize that could absolutely be my perception, but it's like the bricking of Live Action Moana just increases the marketing pressure on Avengers.

I think I mentioned it in passing the DC thread or another one, but Doomsday feels more like the bloated DC team-up movies to me at this point. It's hard for me to have optimism when it seems to be cast mostly with characters and actors that got big send-offs in Endgame (RDJ, Evans), or they're from another movie universe (X-Men), or the last time we saw them it was in movies that didn't pop off or nobody cares about now (Fantastic Four, Quantumania, Black Panther 2, etc.). I would be shocked if it didn't get to $500m, but as a comparison point, Rise of Skywalker just barely got over $1b because the WOM was so bad. I don't think it's crazy to think Doomsday might be in a similar boat.

I do not understand this mindset from Disney and other companies. If it's not good enough to be in the movie, why are you using it for the marketing? ****, just do a 1-day shoot with like Avengers sitting around a table, being charming, instead of showing us gloop.
