My dad used to teach a history of motion pictures class, and this is what happened with the Marx Brothers. Students thought everything was cliched and predictable but all of those cliches originated with the Marx Brothers.

I love the Marx Bros.

The same is also true of Citizen Kane.
But i dont think that applies here. Sure, Brando's role has been parodied, but i can't recall any insytances of it being copied. Except possibly Silvio.
He reminds me of Festus in Gunsmoke. Why the **** was Festus the only with a God Damn accent!?!!!?!!

Why was Brando the only cotton-mouthed mumbler in the movie?
His opening scene the baker was almost farcical.

As someone pointed out earlier Brando's best scenes were with Michael when was providing advice.

Animal House also brought us a decade or two of endings spelling out what happened to main characters. Funny once or twice, it became a cliche pretty damn quick.
