Sirs, Madames,

Am I the only one who remembers L(B)M's cameo on Run DMC's Kings of Rock?

YHS, etc

No - I remember it too

Bob Broene (at least I think that's how you spell it), get this nice man a jar of mayonnaise.

Bob Rooney.
Glad to see someone else remembers Ask Mr. Melman. Thanks for clearing it up.

Did anyone else notice this story (on cnn.com) said there would be no funeral. He has no survivors.
Sad.
I'm sure Letterman will take care of him well. He always had a soft spot in his heart for Calvert, got very testy when others tried to take advantage of him, I seem to remember.

For just being himself on screen, he worked a crowd like few people his age ever could. His character was the biggest loss for Letterman during the network switch. Many, many laughs are left to Trio and YouTube. RIP.

Here's a somewhat lengthy tribute to DeForest and his role on television.

For those interested, Letterman will pay tribute to Larry "Bud" Melman (i.e. Calvert DeForest) tonight.

Also, here's an article on Larry "Bud" by Tom Shales:

Sirs, Madames,

I emailed DMC about L(B)M and he got back to me the next day.

How cool is that? They were the Kings of Rock.

YHS, etc

Well, don't leave us hanging, what did he say?

You could do much worse than to have this as the last line in yer obit:

He increased the amount of laughter in the world.
