RIP Freddie Hubbard

Oneof my all-time favorites suffered a heart attack last month and died this morning. "Red Clay" took the baton from Miles' "*******' Brew" and nudged jazz toward fusion before Herbie Hancock's "Headhunters" took it all the way. I listened hard to "Red Clay" and his Blue Note stuff and wished -- hell, still wish -- I could play with Hub's big, bold tone.

Keep groovin', Hub.

Saw last nite on link -- guy was married 35 years to his wife.
Great when you see that particular kind of dedication.

First saw him at a noon concert in the campus amphitheater at the junior college I attended in 1971.
Still have a couple of his albums on vinyl.
Awesome guy, awesome talent.
