Defensive tackle for the Dolphins' No-Name Defense of their '72-'73 Super Bowl wins and the '72 undefeated season. Dead at 79. He was great in NFL Films piece on the '72 Dolphins as part of their Super Bowl champs anthology.

I was going to make a joke about the Grim Reaper meeting his monthly quota by taking out TBS sports legends, until I looked it up and saw that Manny Fernandez the Dolphin and Manny Fernandez the pro wrestler were two different people. Always assumed Dolphin Fernandez went into wrestling after he retired from football since the wrestler was active in the early 80s.

I used to think that as a kid and for a lot of years. Apparently, the wrestler tried to claim in kayfabe that he was also the football player to build his rep.

Kinda funny nowadays to think about it, especially in this day when names are trademarked.

Anyhoo, RIP to the real football Manny Fernandez.
