Fleetwood Mac really collectively screwed the pooch by not making the 2017 Buckingham/McVie duo album an official Mac release, but unfortunately Mick had essentially turned the band over to the Stevie Nicks Welsh Witch Cocktail Lounge Orchestra and the pretty princess did not deign to participate (or maybe have three songs fit for public consumption to add to the mix).

Same here. I did a triple take when I saw that she was 79. I was never a big Fleetwood Mac guy, but as someone else said, I've heard her voice all my life. RIP.

Sheesh, I'm doing a little soul searching with this news. This is messed up. I've already lost my tears over Christine McVie's passing than I did over my first wife's death.

I suppose that McVie's voice, especially over the last five years or so, has been a soundtrack of the comeback that has been my life.

Not going to claim I was exactly a fan, but I could certainly appreciate how skilled they were. What they did was extremely difficult (writing memorable hook-laden pop-rock songs that were completely their own sound, not derivative of anyone, and performing them with virtuoso perfection) but they made it look easy and Christine's voice was stunningly beautiful. And Rumours is a great album.

Still, when I hear Fleetwood Mac, I feel like it's the mid-70s and I'm 5 years old and stuck in my babysitter's room for what felt like hours, not allowed to come out until nap time is over (and I could never fall asleep during the day) while she's downstairs chain-smoking. Fleetwood Mac and the theme song from the Young and the Restless both have that effect on me.
