When I was 2, my thumb got slammed in a car door by the grocery dude helping my mom and it was nearly severed. A trip to the emergency room and it got all sewn up and is doing fine now with a lovely scar for the memories.

I have a savant-like knowledge of individual baseball statistics from 1900 to about 1994 or so. I read the Baseball Encyclopedia cover to cover like a dozen times and can tell you the best seasn for any player who made significant contributions to his team during that time frame.
So, someone like Tom Paciorek or Jim Perry would be fair game, but a Buddy Biancalana or **** Ruthven be too obscure.

Buckweaver scoffs in your general direction. After he's busy looking at 1882 American Association box scores. ;)

Shiiiiit, y'all all know my research keeps me mostly in the Deadball Era and a little past that. ;)

And it's funny, the only Baseball Encyclopedia I ever owned was the 10th edition -- complete with updated 1995 stats! Still have it, of course. But haven't cracked it open in years, since B-R went online.

I went to the same grade school as John F. Kennedy, but the most famous alumnus of my high school is the guy who played Norman Bates.

I can name some pre-1900 players, but not enough to be super at it.
Also the Federal League stats from 1914-15 are included in my knowledge

I drank 19 beers on New Year's Eve between 8:30 p.m. and 1 a.m., the last five aided by a hollowed out whiffle ball bat named "Louisville Chugger."

I walked 40 minutes to go snowboarding this morning at 9:30 because I didn't feel like digging my car out of the driveway.
