Flasher, sweetie,

See above, "Miracle on Manchester"

Xan, doll ... I've been a Flames fan since I was 4. I've blocked out most Oilers accomplishments.

Sorry to hear that, Flash.

In this case, this should be among your top 3, watching the Oilers in full meltdown.

Keep them coming. How did I not type Frazier? You can tell I was being pulled away a few times when I typed that up.

I will redo the thread on Monday with the additions and everyone can keep adding.

Thanks to everyone for the many events I forgot or just plain didn't know about. NASCAR and soccer, I'm looking in your direction.

Yeah, and the Flames did finish better that season ...

In no particular order

Steelers winning Super Bowl IX
The Mean Joe Green Coke commercial
Steelers winning Super Bowl X
Franco Harris revolutionizing the game by running out of bounds
Steelers winning Super Bowl XIII
Terry Bradshaw's first divorce
Steelers winning Super Bowl XIV
Lynn Swann running for public office
Steelers winning Super Bowl XV
The birth of Ben Roethlisberger

You forgot Bettis winning Super Bowl XL in his hometown. Did you know he's from Detroit?

I think he was blue fonting my, at times, fanboy nature.

I was trying to narrow what Steeler moments most people would want to see, and think the IR and X are two good choices.

X gives you Swann doing amazing things, Lambert fighting, a comeback, blocked punt, plus what? 14-15 HOF players on the field?

Poin ... stellar ...

Where's hockey?
Like ...

The 1972 Summit Series
Bobby Orr's flying goal
The Calgary Flames becoming the only team in history to win the Cup on Forum ice
Bobby Baun's game-winner (yeah, yeah, JR ... Leafs history ... some of it is important)
The 1987 Canada Cup

There's more ... dammit ... this cold is fogging my brain.

I mentioned the lack of hockey.

Also the Pens-Flyers playoff game that went 5OTs (or maybe 4) and lasted for almost 6 hours.

OK, Dr.

How about the day Jerry West was born?
Hot Rod Hundley gunning away?
Or WVU playing ND in the Fiesta Bowl?
Or Bevo Francis lacing them up for Rio Grande?

Sorry, I can't think of anything else wise ass for WV.

I don't give enough of a **** about West Virginia sports for that to be much of a putdown. Thanks for playing.

I think that was a WWF Pay Per View.

If wrestling was included...
Slaughter declaring War on the Iron Shiek
Snuka off the top of the steel cage against Backlund
Piper hitting Snuka with a coconut
Crippler Stevens pile driving Snuka three times on a concrete floor.
Hogan slamming Andre
A good young Andre match

Nah, it was free TV, on USA. I remember vividly. Hulk fought out of the Cobra Clutch, then point-wagged his index finger to the crowd, which screamed and roared him back to strength, and he proceeded to beat the crap out of the Shiek, culminated with an off-the-ropes jumping leg drop 'cross the chest into a pin. One of my favorite Sunday mornings of childhood.
