South Florida at Pitt kick off the festivities Thursday Night.

A&M vs. the Hogs should turn into a colossal bore. (Tip/try, etc.)

Clemson v. Va. Tech looks intriguing. Is Clemson really that good?

Alabama @ Florida. First team to 20 wins this.

Nebraska @ Wisky could be highly entertaining. Crowd will look like a massive candy cane.

Nice candy cane line!

The latest SkiptomyLou Holtz and Co. ad on ESPN where he riffs on Groupon is funny but damn does it really showcase Lou's mental and verbal deterioration. I guess **** Clark wasn't available.

Very nervous about the game at the Horseshoe... screw you, Fickel...

If you're a Sparty fan, I wouldn't be. I expect Coach D to throw the kitchen sink at Miller (tOSU's frosh QB). He's a talented kid, but he's still a very raw product. I'm just hoping he gets through the next four (Sparty, Nebraska, Illinois & Wisco) without a chalk outline being involved.

I'm looking forward to Bucky & the Huskers on Saturday P.M. Should be a mighty good one. Not sure what to expect from this one, except (in the immortal words of Otis Sistrunk), "Pain."

Maybe, although most of the Nebraska fans that get into Camp Randall will be wearing black.

A couple other good games on tap:

• Air Force at Navy, noon EDT (9 a.m. for me) -- As long as neither team turns it over a lot (or gets a huge lead), you'll see option plays a'plenty. I love it.

• Washington at Utah, 7 p.m. EDT -- On the other extreme, this should be a shootout between two up-and-coming teams. Utah had a bye week after just destroying BYU, and UW led by QB Keith Price had a strong win over Cal last weekend. If the Huskies win this, I could see an 8- or 9-win season for them.

USF falling apart after cracking the top 20? Color me shocked.

What, no hype for the Wesley-Charleston Southern game?
They don't hype the Mississippi State at Georgia contest, either, and for the life of me I just don't understand it. It's an 11-ish kickoff but, damn. This could be a wonderful SEC conference matchup.
(As the venerable deskslave likes to say, it's Georgia vs. "God-forsaken MSU")

I could see Florida winning, especially since its at home. Alabamas defense will be tested this week on the ground. Rainey/Demps may be the best 1/2 combo at RB in the country, they are really exciting to watch. Brantley needs to play mistake free in order for them to have a shot, but I could definitely see Florida winning.

I expect Wisconsin to beat Nebraska, Nebraskas defense has fallen off a bit this year and that Wisconsin offense is way too good.

It's the Music City Bowl tournament!

Thanks for playing, South Florida. That was a terrible performance.

As much as I do not like how Graham handles himself on the sideline by throwing his players under the bus repeatedly, I really do believe he is going to have Pitt playing much better by years end. To me, that process started last night. But I think South Florida lost that game in the first half when they didn't take advantage of controlling the line of scrimmage early on. By the time Pitt finally got the running game going, it was over.

The biggest game in the SEC conference tomorrow is gonna not, I think, be as close as several people have prognosticated.
Alabama should easily find its way past the Florida team since there's no chance the Tide is looking a month ahead toward Mississippi State.
BYU and Utah State was a fun one on the slate tonight, too.

Blitz, do you drop by the ATM machine on the way to an SEC conference game?

I don't necessarily disagree with many of his points, but how is Paul Finebaum allowed to write a Big Ten bash piece for SI.com? Gimme a break.

"I'll be in Gainesville Saturday night . . . watching real, bought-and-paid for professional football as performed by tramp athletes . . . "

Fixed.
