A friend of mine texted that Nate's "body's turned cold" now.
Aw shucks.

RIP, Nate Dogg

Damn, that's evil. And I laughed.

I met Warren G once at a Mellow Mushroom. Nate wasn't there.

Whole lotta drama goin' down in the LBC.

When that song came out (Regulators), my two childhood buddies and I were in college. I lived across the hall from them. One night, they turned up the stereo, loud enough for the RA to come to our floor. She knocked on my door, thinking it was me. I opened it and said "nope" and pointed directly at their door. She opens their door and she sees two white kids wearing makeshift do-rags and rapping along with Warren G and Nate Dogg.

She didn't say a word because she was laughing her ass off.

Eh. Don't care.

Thanks for chiming in! Do you just scope threads, looking for topics you don't care about just so you can post that you don't care about it? That sounds awesome!

Nate Dogg's death was on his own. He shouldn't be venerated for perpetuating a stereotype that all black men should just be thugs.

Eh. Don't care.
Don't care about the post or don't care that he was a certifiable thug?

Oh, noes! He was busted with weed on his tour bus! That's never happened to white musicians!

He was never even accused of committing violence. And he served three years in the Marine Corps.

I never said a white musician never did that, now did I? Please brush up on your reading comprehension skills.
And if he was never accused of committing violence, it's certainly not the image he wanted to portray.

My reading comprehension skills are just fine. I would have just said you have a history of couched racism on this board, but I thought it indelicate.

And I guess Al Pacino is a thug, too. And DeNiro. And anyone who's ever played a violent guy in a movie.

Illegal gun possession and terrorizing an ex-girlfriend seem to fit the bill for a guy who portrayed a thug in public.

But lets celebrate his life because he was a great artist and man.

For the record, I'm not a fan of the white trash lifestyle either.

Shouldn't you be browbeating a minority for "having an assured job at Gannett?"

You've made your views very clear around here since the Brandon Davies affair broke.

And the ex-girlfriend thing was dismissed. Not pleaded down. Dismissed.

One of my friends is black.

Jesus ****ing Christ, who the ****ing hell is celebrating his ****ing life? He had a song everyone remembers from the 90's and that's why people are reacting. Big furry ****ing surprise. People RIP'd the OMC guy and the dude from LFO and will probably do the same for any other musical act pegged to a big 90's hit. Nobody's building a ****ing statue to the guy or giving him the NAACP Vanguard Award or saying Long Beach State should rename their sports teams the Regulators1. Some dude who had a cool song died young and people think that sucks because they remember the song. It's not rocket ****ing science.

1 -- Which of course they should.
