This might be the most bizarre movie I have ever watched. It was running on HBO late last night. Caught while surfing my eyes almost popped out of my head when on my screen Raquel Welsh appears standing behind a actor strapped to a gurney and she is doing her best Boots imitation.

This is clearly a "what were they thinking" when movie was made. Eclectic cast of Jim Backus, Tom Selleck , Farah Fawcett , John Huston, Paul Lynde, Mae West ( yes really) .

Bed scene with Welsh and Fawcett was very interesting.

I predict cult status for this flick it it is not already there.

After Thanksgiving with my family, Myra Breckinridge should seem so incredibly normal.

Somehow I got absorbed in 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' this morning--I played that role in college. In front of actual people.

Eclectic? Anyone who has the brainstorm to put Thurston Howell, Magnum P.I., Charlie's Angel, the fruity guy from the center square in Hollywood Squares and Mae West in the same movie is an evil genius.

Back in about 1978 they re-released it as a B-movie where a bunch of drive-ins basically advertised it as your chance to see Farrah naked. Went to see it with a bunch of friends and there really wasn't any Farrah nudity that I saw.

Book came out about the same time as "Candy," by Terry Southern. Both outrageously funny and great sendups of the sexual primness of the time. Forerunners of "Portnoy's Complaint."

Myra Breckenridge is part of the glorious triumvirate of weirdness that also includes the aforementioned Candy and Beyond The Valley of the Dolls.

Myra Breckenridge is like an acid trip in a gay bar, at least what I THINK an acid trip in a gay bar would be like.

Plus! Mae West doing a serviceable version of Otis Redding's Hard To Handle!
