On one of my many trips to Las Vegas back to New York, I took a Southwest Airlines flight to LGA, that's LaGuardia Airport.
Now, I'm closer to JFK, but because I have the points on Southwest, I decided to fly into the other New York City airport that's in my borough of Queens, LGA.
My flight went from Las Vegas to New York LGA with a layover in Denver, Colorado.
I had an hour layover between flights , so I stopped at Starbucks and brought myself a Matcha Green Tea and waited to board my flight.
The flight from Denver was shorter than I thought it would be.
As usual, we had to taxi on the runway, because after all, this is New York City, and there's traffic, even on the airport runways.
When we got to the baggage claim area, I waited for my bag just like the other passengers, but something was wrong.
While other passengers were getting their bags, my little blue bag, which I no longer have, was no where to be found.
As all the passengers had gotten their bags, my next step was to go to the Southwest Airlines baggage office and see what was going on.
The agent looked at his computer after I explained what was going on,:"Miss Lawery, your bag didn't transfer from Denver Airport, so we're going to put it on the next flight, which is St.louis to LGA. I'm sorry for delay."
Great, my bag gets to travel to somewhere else before it gets to New York, but meanwhile the Sports Diva has to fight Saturday night traffic on the Long Island Railroad back home.
The baggage agent asked me to describe my bag and what was in it.
"light blue with lots of Vegas Golden Knights stickers on it. There's clothes, toiletries, my wigs and two bottles of booze."
Don't laugh. The Sports Diva has her priorities, and of course my bag is going to have stickers of some sports team on it, this time it just happens to be the Vegas Golden Knights.
I was told that my bag would be delivered to whatever hotel or whatever Air B and B I was going to in New York.
Not to be a jerk, my reply was, "This is where I live, so I'm going to my own home."
My bag arrived a day later in the late evening because no body was at home in the morning.
Now, after all this time, you think I would have learned my lesson.
I still do check my bag on a long flight, especially when I have a connecting flight, which doesn't happen too often.
Nope, I've taken precautions to make sure if I'm going to somewhere like Philadelphia, Washington DC, Montreal or Toronto, my bags are going there too.
It's called I'm going by bus or Amtrak.
