"I'm living my best life. Ain't going back and forth with you now. I'm living my best life."
This was a couple of the lyrics from a rap song by Snoop Dogg and Lil Duval.
I want to know what do YOU consider living your best life?Does it require money?
Or is it something else?
To me, money isn't an issue to living your best life.
It's personal.
Listening to a song on your phone or radio to calm you down, eating the best meal you've ever had and YOU made it yourself.
Taking a walk around your neighborhood or a bus or train ride somewhere.
Or it might be just having your health.
Just what does living your best life mean to you?

Honestly, living my best life would probably involve living on a cruise ship. So, yes, it would require much more money than I have.

More realistically, I already live a good life, about which I can hardly complain, and no, it doesn't require a whole lot of money, which is a good thing, because I'm a peon at Walmart.

I'm so fortunate, though, and usually, I'm pretty content. I do my best to live by one of my favorite sayings: "Being grateful for what you have, turns what you have into enough." (I have a little sign in my house, that I look at every day, that says that, and I find that, now, I don't even have to remind myself very often to do it. I just do. It has kind of become my approach to life).

Specifically, and most importantly, I love and appreciate spending time with my family, and I treasure time with my elderly mom.

I love to engage in simple pleasures: listening to music I enjoy; taking a long, leisurely, beautiful drive; engaging in a good discussion; reading a good book; or cooking a good dinner.

If I'm feeling more adventurous, there's nothing better than great day at the beach, a whale-watching trip, or a day on the water in the family boat. And if I really want to get away? I love real travel, to some other part of the world.

I've always said "I want to see the world," and I've meant it. I'd like to touch down everywhere, see everything, and meet people from all walks of life. Absent that, I do what I can in terms of traveling, and usually, that means one or two trips a year, usually cruises, just because I love being on the ocean. By last count, I've managed to go to 23 countries/parts of the world so far. Yet, there are so many more places that I'd like to see, experience and take in, and I hope that continues to happen over the course of the rest of my life.

Yeah, that would be the best life. :)

Happy times with my wife, two boys and extended family. That's why I enjoy the holidays so much.

Of course, cruising into the golf course on a beautiful sunny day with the top down and then walking down the fairway to my drive in the middle puffing away with a nice stogie is nice too (and a caddie carrying my bag).

Don't take this personally, OP, but it grinds my gears whenever I hear that phrase on TV. Instant mockery from me.

I am petty, yes. 😅

I had to do a writing exercise in college where we described our "dream life" - and I was writing full time, had a house out by a lake, not sure if I was writing fiction or non-fiction, jetting off to assignments or whatnot.
But since then, I realize it is the unexpected chaos of life, that keeps you on your toes and makes you the person you are ultimately meant to be. We need struggles, we need challenges. Some of the greatest works of art and literature were produced because someone needed a quick payday. They didn't have time to ponder and reflect and ruminate. They just acted.

I am five months into living life as a Pop Pop to the worlds most perfect granddaughter. (I will admit to a certain amount of bias) And, I feel like this is going to be the living my best life phase. I knew I was going to love being a grandparent, but man, do I love being a grandparent!

But, @WriteThinking may be write about the cruise thing too!

Very happy for you Pa Pa! I’m hoping for the same..

When I was a kid dreaming (15-18 ish) my dream was to be a dad and play catch with my boys. Don’t know why but if I could not be Willie in CF, that’s what I wanted.

I’m living my best life because I got to do that and am still doing that today.
