My computer help question

I have a desktop wired into my home network. When I start IE after booting up the computer, everything works fine. But if I quit the browser and then try to come back later to browse the web again, I get no connection. I have to reboot the computer, then can browse again - one time, before having to reboot. Anybody have any idea what's going on?

What should I be looking for? As I say, it fires up fine the first time but not thereafter.
