Just realized that a Japanese pitcher for the Red Sox got named AL Rookie of the Month. And it's not Dice-K.

Hideki Okajima has thrown 14 straight scoreless innings in 14 games. The only run he's given up this season was on opening day in Kansas City. Not to shabby.

At that was on the first pitch of his major league career.

The Red Sox look damn good right now. That rotation is solid, and even if there's an injury down the line, supposedly Jon Lester is very close to returning to the team. There's no replacement for sort that of pitching depth.

I'm sure the Yankees would agree with that.

Lester left his rehab start after just 63 pitches (slated for 90-100) with some cramping in the forearm or elbow. Not considered to be a setback, but is expected to be optioned to Pawtucket to stretch him out. He had a couple of his starts washed out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your attention please.

Josh Beckett is a third of the way to 18 wins. He has yet to lose a game.

Not his best performance of the season, but with that lineup, it will do on most nights.

It'll sure as shootin' do 18-20 times this season.

Did Pube ever agree to the bet?

Yea he did,.

One of his responses went something like this: If he does, it'll probably be time for a new name, so I'll take a week off and then come back with a new name.

I posted this April 16:

To my dear BYH.

In case you have a historic bet win with me, I will make it worth your while.

Each win more than 18 will result in an additional week of my self-banishment from the board.

Josh Beckett has never been so loved.

Give the Padres props... they let Russell Branyan take more than a week off of bereavement for someone who wasn't a blood relative.

Good for them.

Isn't it time to retire the "Prior is a wuss" line of crack, now that it seems he at an undiagnosed injury this whole time?

Right now Tim Wakefield would be leading the Yankee starters in ERA, IP and be tied for the lead in SO with 19. And he's the Red Sox 4th best starter. Its a HUGE advantage having 4 starters who can all possibly give you 200 IP. The Yankee bullpen is going to implode and they will have to score about 1,100 runs to compensate for it.

Will we see a panic move by New York if Roger Clemens decides to stay in Houston? Will Cashman empty the cupboards to try and "win it now"? Are there any big name pitchers who could be available mid-season for some top prospects?

No

You mean the Cubs' medical staff couldn't correctly identify an arm problem before it got out of control? Noooooooooooooo, that would never happen. (/cubbiebluefont)

Chris, to answer your question on possible available pitchers, I'm sure Chan Ho Park could be had for ... nothing?

Who else here is giddy and anxious in anticipation for Kirk Radomski, the former New York Mets clubbie, to spill the beans about which players he helped juice up? I can imagine Selig and Fehr ****ting themselves right now. ;D

Casty - don't laugh. I bet the Yankees are one more injury away from calling the Mets about him or calling Jose Lima to see if he's stayed in shape.

Chris, can you please get rid of that sig picture. I mean, it's bad enough to have somebody in their underwear popping up with every single one of your posts...but even worse when it's somebody we really don't want to see in their underwear.

Second that.
