Gil Meche is a ****ing STEAL at 55 million.

I won't say steal. But he's earned his keep so far. The critics have quieted

If you had the misfortune to watch the 10-run beatings where KC was toast by the third inning, you'd say he was a steal. Actually, the entire rotation has been pretty damn good so far... by any standard. A ****ty bullpen and a ****tier offense hide that quite well.

Steal, earned his keep, whatever you want to call it. I'm more than happy with Meche and the Royals rotation at this point. If they could ever get the bats going, they could really start to do some things.

p.s. Looks like the Yankees' misfortune will turn into a record this week -- 10 starting pitchers in the first 30 games. It's never been done before.

That's it. He will forget to tie his shoes, and things like that, but his mind is like a computer when it comes to hitting. It's just uncanny. I love that guy

Speaking about smart moves by Omar Minaya, how about signing Damion Easley when no one else wanted him?

Omar knew that besides having some pop left in his bat that Damion is one of the classiest individuals in the game. He can play second, third or shortstop, he's a great teammate (generally pretty quiet but willing to speak up when necessary), and very smart. Perfect guy to have on your bench. The Mets do about as good a job at filling their roster as any team.

Sorry, noles, but the error did not "lead" to anything. The error put one man on base with one out. The walk and the home run followed and still would have given the Mets the lead without the error. With one on and out, a guy who had 10 saves in 11 chances is supposed to close out the game, not give up a wlk and a home run.

I think it shook him, obviously LoDuca had a great at-bat to draw the walk and Easley jumped on a BP quality 2-0 pitch. But Valverde wasn't particularly sharp to begin with and LoDuca is a tough batter to face in that situation because he's going to be selective, especially on that 2-2 pitch that just missed.
