This just seems nuts to me. Especially for Mayweather. After carefully maneuvering his way to 49-0 he's now doing this stunt to get to the magical number (that pushes him past Marciano)? He's got EVERYTHING to lose.

Having said that, I think this will be an insanely boring match because Mayweather should be able to avoid MacGregor for however many rounds they make this thing.

I'll believe it happens when they're both in the ring.
Boogie is right.
The Irish eyes will be rolled back in his head within a short time.

avoid him? It's a boxing match. He's gonna go right at 'em and wreck da fool.

Sure. A guy who is arguably the greatest defensive fighter of all-time is going to "go right at" a wild-swinging guy with one-punch power. Sounds like a great plan.
let's just say, I think there''ll be more attack than avoidance with a boxer facing a guy who is not trained as a boxer first.

Then he can counter punch him to death. Why open yourself up for one shot?

I like the idea thrown out on the Dan Patrick Show - boxing for the first 8, MMA for the last four.

I can't fathom the level of sucker you'd have to be to get this on PPV. Enjoy all 30 seconds before Conor goes to sleep.

I don't want to hear anyone who orders this PPV complain about being ripped off.
MMA people say McGregor has "combat sports experience" and he could always land a lucky punch. Mayweeather has fought big punchers before. Those guys had much more boxing experience. If they couldn't land a big punch, why would some newbie be able to do it?

Even if it is a straight-up boxing bout, didn't anyone learn anything from the Ali vs. Inoki debacle? A trained boxer vs. a non-boxer is a farce.

Mayweather is smart. Odds are he stays out of reach and sticks Conor with jabs till his eyes swell, then goes in after him.
