It's not until next week, but hey, why not get an early start on making the thread.

Predictions?

Looks like ya'll will fit RIGHT IN :)

Lefty goes Southern for Champions Dinner
AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) – Phil Mickelson will be presiding over a Southern feast at the Masters champions dinner this year.
The defending champion gets to select the menu for the annual Tuesday night dinner of past champions, and Lefty is making sure they won’t leave the room on an empty stomach.
The menu features southern fried chicken, baby back ribs, beef brisket and smoked sausage. If that’s not enough, vanilla ice cream will be served for dessert.
Mickelson won his second Masters last year by two shots over Tim Clark. After winning the 2004 Masters for his first major, Mickelson served lobster ravioli in a tomato cream sauce, Caesar’s salad and garlic bread at the champions dinner.
Along with choosing the menu, the defending champion also picks up the tab.
This year’s Masters begins on Thursday.

Um, is the menu worthy of a story?

Indeed it is. It is every year.

Especially when Sandy Lyle won it and he served Haggus the next year. I think a lot of people left hungry that year.

A well-done profile of Billy Payne by Kindred (sorry if this has been referenced elsewhere on the board ...)

I think those in attendance can order off of the club menu if the champion's fare is a bit too daunting. But I don't think that'll be a problem this year.

And, SC, pimento cheese isn't the way to go. Yuck. Turkey sandwich, chicken breast sandwich, and pink lemonade. Yum.

For those who haven't been to Augusta National, you can't beat the prices. Last year I got those same two sandwiches, a bag of chips, and six soft drinks in souvenir cups (I wanted the cups, so only one was full) for less than 10 bucks.

And Tiger will win. Mighty slim branch I'm venturing out on there.

DD: Did you go as a fan or media?
Fan, and only to a couple practice rounds. Tournament badges are THE toughest ticket in sport, bar none. There's a finite amount which only increases at the club's discretion. I think they can be passed down from generation to generation. Anyway, if you want to see a tournament round as a fan, either know somebody in Augusta, or be prepared to spend a couple thousand dollars.

I can totally vouch for this. And I've been to a round or two in my day. Not practice.

I'd like to go to a tournament round someday, but practice rounds are fantastic in their own right. The par 3 on Wednesday is always fun. Also, watching at No. 16 is a blast.

After a group is done hitting a couple tee shots each, the crowd yells at them to skip a shot across the pond. Those who don't -- except for the really, really old past champions -- are booed. And each shot that finds its way across the water is lauded with a lusty roar.

Indeed, it is a blast, or so I've heard. Haven't been to a Par-3 Wednesday yet.

par 3 course is some of the prettiest property at Augusta.
it's a don't-miss event if you are there on Wednesday.
