Here's a re-phrase, for Ace and other people who have reading comprehension problems:
How will Keith Ellison balance his stances on the issues as laid out on his web site (stances which fit neatly within the parameters/playbook/talking points/platform of the Pelosi wing of the Democratic party) with the historic tenets of the Muslim faith as it regards women, homosexuals and abortion. Does Keith Ellison renounce the practices of his faith in other countries in regards to the treatment of gays, women who are accused of adultery (and who have been the victims of rape), etc.
I'm not taking a position one way or another. But if Keith Ellison holds true to what was on his web site, it will be at tremendous odds with even the most liberal wing of Islam.
How's he going to do it?

I don't know. You may notice, hondo, that some of the different branches of Islam don't seem to be exacly on the same playbook themselves.

I'll grant you all of that. Now, show me a faction or sect or branch of Islam, either here or abroad, that is pro-choice and preaches tolerance of homosexuals. You seem to know all about Southern Baptists, so this shouldn't be hard to do.Ace said:

But in light of the fact that polls of Muslims in the U.S. identify themselves as Muslims first and Americans second, I'm only wonder how Mr. Ellison will vote on key issues. I haven't even passed any judgment on him or his religious beliefs. The good people of his district have spoken. Unlike many liberals, who disparage people for voting their conscience when they vote Republican, I won't question someone's right to vote for whom they want. (One poster on another thread on SportsJournalists.com recently referred to the "idiot swath who voted for George W. Bush twice and his father twice).
Simple question: Will Ellison remain true to the stances he took on his web site and during the campaign, or will he vote on the basis of his faith?
That's not a question that is critical of Muslims in any way. Only asking a question.
