Jets halftime show

Is it any surprise that the security sits around and does nothing? These are people that bully up on a crowd when it is small and then sit around and do nothing when **** like this goes on.

This is all very very sad.

sorry for the minor threadjack, but I find that almost all the long-time posters have their own pet issues. Pastor's has been the "security" at Giants Stadium - he's complained about it for years. This thread is like an 80 mph fastball right over the heart of the plate.

Might not find security to be so disinterested at future Jets games....

I wouldn't this particular topic a pet issue. I did mention it previously in relation to several acquaintances that were roughed up, and another that was tossed for using his camera phone to take video of the harassment. It came up, I believe, twice.

From my experience, I found it of little surprise to read the following:

Agreed. So far, what I see in that story is a tremendous job of passing the buck by anybody who could possibly do anything about it.

Funny thing is, as bad as the crowds at a Steelers game can get (I have always hated dealing with the crowd outside on game days there), I can't imagine something like this happening in Heinz Field. Maybe it's because most of the women are actually there for the game. We had a thread about this a while back, but you would be amazed by the interest level in the Steelers among women in Pittsburgh.

Man, if you've been to Pittsburgh, you were hanging in the wrong part of town.

No one should be surprised the Jets, who fashion themselves as Patriots South, tried that.

Security at Giants Stadium is run by the NJSEA, not the Jets.

The Gate D activities sound stupid, alcohol-propelled and disgusting, but I can't say I was surprised. People drink at NFL games and get into fights and watch girls flash their tits! Film at 11.

I'd think that if it was any other paper except the stately NYT writing about it (in kind of a prurient way), this wouldn't be such a big deal. They'll just go somewhere else if Gate D is policed.

The one part I did think was pathetic was how the security guards detained the reporter and confiscated his tape recorder, as if he was doing something wrong and they had a legal leg to stand on.

As anyone who's been to the Meadowlands knows, the security guards and parking attendants are ignorant, power-hungry thugs.

The only NFL I've seen in person are Cowboys and Saints games. Unless things have changed drastically in the years since I've been to an NFL game, no way this could happen in Dallas or N.O. A little drunkenness and stupidity, sure, but not this kind of Lord of the Flies ****.

I've never seen stuff like that happen at Saints games, and I've been to a few. People get drunk and they curse a lot, but nothing like this. They're pretty strict in the Superdome...I was at the Rams game last weekend and they were tossing people out for smoking in the stadium. The "show-your-tits" chanting is saved for the touristy areas of Bourbon Street.

Well, it sounds like the Jets fans are actually acting better than about five years ago. Back then they were throwing quarters to kids at the bottom of the ramp, and when the kids went to get the change the fans poured beer on them.

Used to be easy to spot Giants fans: older, more affluent, cigar-smoking middle-age guys with a modicum of class. Sorry to say, that's changing as their progeny parade their lack of sense and proper upbringing in public.
